Would you take your son to Asker House Princess Breakfast

I really want to take dd, but really do not think that ds (9) will be into it. I am thinking maybe him and dh can do something else that morning??

We took DH (53) and he loved it - LOL! Not sure about your son, but when we had hubby's pics taken with the different princesses, they all had him pose in a "manly" pose. The one with Jasmine is priceless! We did the breakfast, and we were all pleased with the food. I am sure that more posters with sons will offer their thoughts.

My son enjoyed it. Took a little bit of encouragement to get him to pose. Worst case, he will go and eat the food and not pose with the Princesses.

DS has been to Akershus twice, CRT & 1900 PF 3 of those meals were for his sister, she in turn had to suffer thru things that he wanted to do The 4th meal was dinner at Akershus last year, but that was only because DH really wanted to go back for Norwegian food (he likes herring ) so we joke that it was his Princess meal

DS did survive all of those meals. The Princesses always flirt with him, and as much as he may protest, we seem to have an awful lot of pics with him & cute Princesses

My son is 4 and loved it. He won't let mommy kiss him but wore Belle's lipstick on his cheek the rest of the day. The pics are priceless- you can tell he is totally smitten.

This cracks me up! I think my Dad will definitely be going back to see Jasmine even if the granddaughters don't want to go next time!!!

While I can't comment on the food as I've never eaten there, we once had a family meal at CRT and my 8 year old brother spent the night running away from Cinderella. My other brother and myself(both teens at the time) rather enjoyed the attention from a pretty girl and my sisters got the whole princess thing. The memories were priceless. If he'll be a good sport about it, I say go for it.

I could have posted this almost word for word! From her suffering through his things right down to DH wanting to go back for the food!

Sure, we've eaten at Akershus every single trip except the one last week. All three of my boys love princesses, esp. the oldest.

We went to the breakfast, when our DS was about that age. I was the one who wanted go. In my experience, boys/men are fine anywhere there's food involved.

I just asked my DS 6 and my DS 3 - for an official word.

DS 6 screamed NO in absolute horror. I know that he wouldn't enjoy it even when he got there. He's an absolute boy boy and horrified of anything pink or that can be perceived as Girly.

DS 3 said sure, I want to go eat with the princesses. Are we going to Disney? (at 3 he already knows where to find them )

More From DS 3 - he is clearly enjoying his brothers discomfort and is asking him, are you a princess now?


I guess if I were you I'd ask my DS if he wants to go eat with the princesses. If he isn't even open to it, I wouldn't push him (unless this is a meal for a DD or for you, in which case I'd just tell him we're doing _____ for you and the princess breakfast is for _____)

It's Disney, but everyone is not going to like every single thing about the trip. It's about finding a harmonious balance so everyone gets to do their thing that is special for them.

My DS's (7 and 5) both went for their sister. They were fine. Hot dogs for lunch, and I bribed them with a Capt Hook light and cup. They sat toward the wall, in an effort to keep themselves away from the princesses. It worked sometimes, but we still got a couple cute photos! Most of the princesses were very aware of their level of interest and would ask them if they wanted a picture (oddly enough, both boys wanted a picture with Jasmine! )or they would just chat with them across the table....they boys survived and I would hazard to say that they may have had a little bit of fun!

My 15 yo DS was too cool to get into any of the photos but he thoroughly enjoyed all of the princesses!

We went when our DS's were 8 and 6. We went for our DD'S but lo and behold my boys were all about getting in the pictures and getting autographs.

Since you seem to have options based on his answer, I suggest you ask your son how he feels about it.

My son will be 13 when we go at the end of March. My husband & I did discuss them possibly eating somewhere else the morning my girls and I go, but then decided that he (my husband) wants to see the excitement on the girls faces. We told him that he'd have to go and his exact words were: "oh, I don't care who's there, I just want the food." I think he's at the age where he's not embarrassed by it and could care less if we're dining with Cinderella, Mickey or Winnie the Pooh. On the other hand, if you think your son may have a complete meltdown, have your DH take him somewhere else.

We are doing all 3 princess meals when we go back. DS will be 9 and DD will be 3. I didn't even think about not going or doing something different because of DS. He will have to "suffer" for his sister just like she will suffer through things for him. It's just the way it is. I told DS about the meals and he rolled his eyes and said "Okay.....it's fine......" LOL He just doesn't want the princesses to kiss him!

I am just thinking of the cute photo opps for future occasions....the senior yearbook ad...the wedding slide show...."he has met many princesses in his life...but not one as special as his bride" Oh yeah-he has to go-!
