For about $35 a night.

I have POP booked for DD & I this October! Free Dining *I upgraded to the regular plan*

Upgrading the DP was about $40 per night, it'd be included at a mod, I like the looks of Riverside.

We stayed *and enjoyed* at POP 10/09.

It's just DD & I.

Thanks.

ETA ~ looks like standard rooms aren't available at Riverside ~ I guess French Quarter or other mods.

Personally, I wouldn't. When my husband comes along, we'll upgrade to a mod but when it's just my son and I, we're just as happy at a Value. If my son cared about a nicer pool or table service restaurant, I may rethink it.

We have stayed at Pop and at POFQ, and honestly, for two people I'd just stay at Pop. It was nice to have the queen beds when we had three people, but for two, two double beds is plenty. (POFQ is GORGEOUS, though.)

If it were just myself and 1 (or even 2) kids I'd say no. DH hates the full sized beds and we need more space for all 4 of us.

Yes, I probably would upgrade. I really prefer the Mods over Pop. The resort just seems so loud, overall, and the food court is always a zoo. I don't like the uncovered bus-stop queues, and the pick-up queues at the parks always seem to be the very last ones. I like CSR because it's so much quieter and has pretty scenery and the bus service is good and the pool is really fun. The beds at CSR are also way more comfortable than the beds at Pop, regardless of size. Yeah, for a couple hundred bucks, I'd upgrade.

For that price, I would. I like having the extra room (20% more in a mod vs. a value, which makes a difference over the course of a multi-day stay, IMHO), and I like having a hot tub available for a morning soak before starting the day.

I wouldn't but that's me. We aren't in the room much and if you're going for a week, that's $245. This time around, we are going to La Nouba, and that would pay for half of our tickets.

If I could afford it all, I wouldn't even give it a second thought - I'd be doing it. :thumbsup2 But, as you can tell by all the responses, everyone has a different thought on their resort stay. For me personally, I find the Moderate theming so much more relaxing; the grounds are beautiful, the pool areas are nicer and there are more overall amenities on property. And while the room isn't that much bigger, it still has a more upscale feel than a value room.

If I didn't own DVC now, I would probably always stay Moderate, even over a Deluxe. I find the cost point negligible from a Value to a Moderate and cost prohibitive from a Moderate to a Deluxe. :cutie:

Im confused. Is it an additional $35 more than the $40 you already paid to upgrade the dining plan? Or is actually saving $5 a night?

My last stay was at French Quarter and I loved it (the few trips before that were POP). I loved the smallness of French quarter and probably would pick that again for a solo mom and kid trip. A different mod probably wouldn't be worth it for me though.

The additional $35 per night is on top of what I already paid to upgrade the dining plan - $40 per night.

Yes, for $35 extra a night I'd upgrade.

We've stayed at POP & we like it. Great bus system & cute resort.

Then we stayed at PORS the next 3 times. It is totally different. The resort is more peaceful & I love the feeling of that resort with all those huge trees & the boat to DTD. The ride is so peaceful & pretty.

The last 2 trips ( & the one coming up) we've stayed at CSR. We love it! Peaceful & relaxing & I love walking around the lake.

The values are great but the moderates have spoilt us & my hubby refuses to stay value now.

We did just that once, and now we refuse to go back to a value. We just really like the little extra touches of a moderate and we really need queen beds. We have stayed deluxe, and we will do it again, but moderates are the perfect compromise for most of our trips.

I would, and did! I priced out what it would be at Pop ( 6 nights in Dec., with an upgrade to full dining) and at Riverside. For $50.00 more we could stay at Riverside. We normally stay there anyway and we love that resort but I was tempted to try to save money. The savings was just not enough.

I love Riverside, but I did asked the kids where they wanted to stay and they also chose Riverside. Pop is nice, but I just like the Mods better.

ETA, I just saw where you said that Riverside was full for standard rooms, so I would choose French Quarter. I actually considered it this time myself. My DH wanted to stay there because its a little smaller and we cant get a preferred room at Riverside. I just went with what the kids wanted, but French Quarter looks great too!!

Absolutely I'd upgrade, not only with you get a little more out of the room (like a mini fridge and coffee pot which you don't get at the values) you will save $5 a day as the regular dining plan will be included!

No, I won't save $5 a day - if so it wouldn't be a question. I'd pay about $35 more each night *8* on top of what I have now.

My mom and daughter and I stayed at POP last May for the first time, we loved it !!! :)

Oh I see. Well then my advice would be if you have the money and don't mind spending another roughly $300 on the trip then go for it. I prefer deluxe, but that is because I have DVC and it's really hard to go back to value after you've stayed deluxe, that being said I did take my DD9 (then 7) on a mommy and me trip a couple years back and I didn't have any time left on my timeshare as it was booked for a summer trip so we did stay value and it was fine. I did bring a coffee maker and toaster with me for breakfasts. If I had to do it again i'd also bring a cooler with me to keep milk, butter and cream cheese cold because it was a pain filling the sink with ice twice a day!
