A seasoned reporter who helped uncover the Abu Ghraib prison abuses says the U.S. has been carrying out secret reconnaissance missions in preparation for possible airstrikes in Iran. In light of the fact that Iran refuses to dismantle its nulear program ( which it says is solely for civilian purposes ), would you support a U.S. attack on Iran (yes that's Iran, not Iraq)?

I guess my question is have there been talks with Iran, are they in any violation to the UN?

Also how can we afford/sustain a war with both Iraq and Iran? And wouldn't this just encourage the rest of the middle east to work against the US?

In two weeks, the spin will be: "After they attacked us on 9/11, how could we NOT attack them ?"

That's ok...I'll try MIGHTILY not to post "I told you so" messages every few minutes after the invasion happens...lol...Although, I think I actually said we'd go off half-cocked and invade Syria next, rather than Iran.

Still, the answer to "how can we do that and maintain a presence in Iraq" is, we can't. Not with current troop levels.

Hey...is it getting drafty in here, or is it just me ?

This looks like Seymour Hersh's standard stuff, though I have no real quarrel with him. I can believe the US has been carrying out reconnaissance missions; they're probably the worst-kept secret around and airstrikes were probably considered as soon as Iran mentioned its nuclear plans. I am wondering if the rest of the world would expect us to do it, if the world's diplomatic efforts fail. If we didn't, Israel might.

I wouldn't support it right now, but I might later.

Ummmm, in a word, no. We've yet to find Osama bin Laden. I was in favor of that, can't say I've been in favor of our "liberating" other countries since.

I guess reinstating the draft is right around the corner. Yeehaw! I feel like we're living in the days of cowboys and Indians. :crazy2: Completely surreal........

Probably not unless we had no other choice whatsoever.

What would constitute "no other choice?" Do you mean if Iran refused to dismantle its nuclear program as it exists now, we would have no other choice?

Absolutely not. I don't understand this administration, why do we feel its our job to go bully every nation that he deems evil? I have a real eye opener for Mr. Bush and I tell you its North Korea, I see a huge problem developing there and for whatever reason, they are being ignored. IMHO-flame away.

That is a whole lot of BS. Maybe you should have some insight into what you are talking about before talking about it.

My answer is NO, I will not support a US led attack on Iran. And that is not because I was born there and most of my family is there. Why should we have to attack any country?

umm...NO! And I agree that we probably should keep a better eye on North Korea. That does not mean I think we should attack them, though.

No!

I actually was foolish enough to give hesitant support to our invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq. I didn't believe a President of the United States would go to war for no reason whatsoever and I was willing to give him a chance to prove his case.

I won't make that mistake again.

Without really knowing enough on the situation in Iran right now, there's no way I could possibly say. As is, no, I don't think I would support us going in there.

No....(see my signature below)
BUT I won't be surprised WHEN it happens either.

NO! But since our foreign policy is now "YEE HAW," it wouldn't surprise me.

Since when has that ever mattered even to the UN themselves?

The answer to the OP is "no"

It matters to me - which is why I asked. There really is no need to be such a confrontational person all the time.
