I read in my newspaper today about terrorist threats being made to specific banks and financial institutions. (sorry, I tried to link, but couldn't get any cooperation from the site. I'm sure everyone else read the same thing in their local paper!?) According to the article, this was the first time specific institutions were named.

If your place of employment was on that list, what would you do? I can't imagine what these people must be thinking, having to go into a building that has been singled out as a possible site of attack. I know we shouldn't buckle under the terrorist's threat, but I would seriously consider not going into work. The article stated that all employees were expected to report for work.

Prayers and good thoughts to those working in these buildings.

If security was stepped up a bit around the building I would.

I doubt anything will happen there now that we all know what to look for.

All of my family that works in the offices mentioned (and there are quite a few family members) all went to work today. They left early enough to make sure they got through security on time, but they all went.

I work near the Stock Exchange. The amount of police officers that are in the area makes me feel safe. Although, if I worked in the actual building that was mentioned, I think I would be feeling a little uneasy. But, what can you do? I can't take off a couple of months from work. It's sad that we have to live like this.

WIth all of the extra security at and around those buildings I would go to work. I would be nervous though especially if I worked on one of the higher floors. Hopefully since the threat has been publicized, nothing will happen. Since no time frame was given, you can't stay out of work indefinately. I give alot of credit to those who went to work in those buildings today.

I used to work in CitiCorp Center (now CitiGroup) and also in a CitiGoup building in Long Island City. To be honest with you had I been working there on 9-11 I would have quit my job. We have a young child and we don't need my paycheck that badly. I'm very lucky in that regard.

I think I would feel fairly safe in the buildings for which a warning came out. You've got to know that security is so tight nothing will get through. But I've often thought that if security is so tight in a few places, other places might be made a target. That is what worries me. If we "think" we know where they're targeting, couldn't they just pick new places?

I'd show up. I figure if DH can show up to the White House, his place of employment, every single day, I could show up to my place of employment, regardless of where it was.

Now if a plane flew into the building I was working in, you can be sure I'd be leaving the building and would not be returning. I always think of those poor people who returned to work in Manhattan only to have the building collapse on top of them. :(

I work for a big financial company in VA and yes I would go to work, off today but heard even our security is tighter..security is a good thing, can never hurt.....:sunny:

Yes I would have gone to work. Unfortunately this is the world we live in now. What are you gonna do?

If it were my day to go, so be it. I won't live my life on threats of terror.

I do work in one of those buildings and I showed up for work, though today was a very quiet, nervous day all around. There's a big police presence and 100% I.D. check when you walk in the door. As someone else said, what can you do? You just have to keep on living as best you can.

I work for a major insurance company. we're located in the same area as major financial institutions. we weren't named as a target, but we're close enough to companies that were that if something had happened, we'd be in the middle of it.

I went to work today, saw lots of extra security.

I worked in Chrysler building, and we pretty much assumed it is a target every day. Yes, I still showed up to work, because how long can you call in sick? There is no time frame. And if I decided to work and stay in this city, I just have to deal with it and not think about it. And focus on the bright side. Like, nobody was on the subway today, and I got a seat. :)

Yep,
Worked in Wall Street back in 83/84.
Would have fought tooth and nail to get into work, just on principle!
