Would you share with a stranger?

If a couple you don't know asked you to share their Kitchen Sink would you:

  • Say YES without hesitation and dig in.

  • Say YES, but insist on divying it out into separate bowls.

  • Say Yes, but insist on paying for half

  • Say NO, but thanks anyway.

  • Say NO and point out how disgusting that is.

  • Give them a funny look and walk away without answering.

Sorry to say, but I wouldn't be comfortable splitting ice cream with total strangers, even if we had separate bowls.

Some food is more 'shareable' than others, and to me ice cream is one of the least shareable foods. I'm fine sharing ice cream with close friends or family, just not with someone that I've just met at Disney.

It's kind of 'intimate' I guess. I figure, hey at least buy me dinner first :rotfl2:

(just kidding - offering to share ice cream is generous, just not my thing at all)

Despite me starting this thread, I would still feel a little weird sharing ice cream with strangers, but I guess my generosity overshadows my paranoia. Just seems like such a waste.

I think, in general, our society has become reluctant to accept things from strangers - whether it's ice cream or something else.

Last year DD got sick right before we went to LaNouba, so we had an extra ticket. We tried giving it away for like 30 minutes, but people just gave us funny looks like were were gonna throw them in the back of our van and drive them out to the everglades.

Absolutely not.
But I would be polite and say "No thank you".

i had a case of mono last yr and was out of work bedridden and in the hospital for 2 months, so my answer is heckkk no. germs spread so easily it's not worth it

Am I the only one who doesn't think this is a big deal at all? :confused3

I mean, all you people who eat at buffets...what do you think you are ALL doing? You're essentially sharing your food with total strangers...LOTS of them, just using "separate plates".

I mean, honestly, if I was at Beaches and Cream, and a nice couple of people appoached me and my friends and offered to split a Kitchen Sink with us (knowing full well we could NEVER kill that thing on our own) HECK YEAH we'd say "yes". No hesitation. And we'd offer to split the cost too.

You sit next to strangers all day long at WDW, on the bus, the rides, in lines, etc. You start up conversations with a lot of them. Many are really nice people. What's so "disgusting" about joining up and conquering the Kitchen Sink together (albeit, in separate plates)?

Come on, loosen up people. It's eating ice cream at Disney World.

I think "bobbing for apples" is a FAR more disgusting pasttime, and I bet some of you did that as kids (and maybe still do at parties with your own kids...).

No, thank you. :)

My dh and I were talking about the kitchen sink recently, we want to get it! We'll wait until our boys are older and can eat more though. :)

i would seriously consider it, especially if we had struck up a conversation while waiting for a table or on the bus or boat or whatever... the only thing that really keeps me from saying a stronger maybe is food allergies... i'm sure you would not want a nut-free kitchen sink as it would just not be the same!

oh, and i'd probably insist on paying for part of it or at least leaving the tip...

Nah, I wouldn't do it, but I don't think it's particularly disgusting, I just would probably be going there with my own agenda, and I'm not a big "sit with strangers at their table and eat their ice cream person". I don't mind striking up a conversation on the bus or in line, but I'd feel awkward sitting at someone's table. :rolleyes1

If i was younger and there was alcohol first haha yes. ah the good old days...lol

.At this point um no thanks...

I voted "no", but really, if any of you said, Let's meet on such-and-such date and order the Kitchen Sink with extra bowls, yes, I might do it.

I don't understand the harm in sharing if you are having it divided into separate bowls???:confused3

We would definitely share with strangers IF it were divided up before eating. That is completely sanitary & you save alot of money (and food) this way! & it's WAY more sanitary than some of the buffets you share with alot more people.

You don't even need to necessarily share a table.

Yes. If they dished it up in separate bowls, then we all dug in (before they started eating) no problem! That's a great idea! :thumbsup2

I agree with you 100%! What is everyone freaking out about, it's seperate bowls for goodness sakes! You are 100 times more likely to catch something from the stranger next to you on the bus, ride or BUFFET!! My family would absolutely love to share the kitchen sink with you. I just checked out your itinerary and we will be at La Nouba for the night you are at B&C sorry!
Enjoy! and I hope you find some wonderful people to share with, your life will be richer for having met someone new!
:hourglass pixiedust: :scratchin :offtopic: (sorry my DS 8 years old picked all these icons out!)

Are you, like, my long-lost twin or something (not that I would wish my looks on anyone... especially if you're male :teeth: but you know what I mean)?

Matt71 - I see this will be your second trip in a year? If you can manage to go yet again, at the end of September, I would be thrilled to buy in on a share of your Kitchen Sink! Okay, granted, I might not be willing to pay half, because there's only one of me, and I have a pretty good idea already how much (or how little) I would actually eat - but I have not had a Kitchen Sink since I was, um, sixteen? So, one minus six is eight, put down the seven, carry the two... well, a LOT of years. There used to be a place in Lynn, Massachusetts that had a menu item with the same name and a similar 'recipe' - and I remember four of us left a party one night, drove over there, bought one, shared it, and brought back the leftovers. And while two of 'us' was my friend and her boyfriend, the fourth person was his friend - who I really didn't know well at all, but who cared about germs way back then? WERE there even germs that long ago?

Anyway - I voted "yes separate bowls" AND "yes pay half". I want one - but it'd be a HUGE waste of money for just me.

But I've shared food. In Olivia's one night, I wanted really, truly, something like three french fries and couldn't see letting the rest of them go to waste. They didn't. The couple at the next table was kind enough to take the rest of them from me :)

So - are we on for September?
