Would you say something or keep quiet?

I not only would tell the wife, I would get her pamphlets on second-hand smoke and maybe a prescription for Chantix.

Just kidding. In no way is this your business. No way at all.

OP here - I guess you all are right. I was just so shocked to see him sitting there smoking I guess I lost control of my senses.:scared1:
I am disappointed that he smokes though with the health risks that brings. :sad2:

Completely ignore it. It's not my business and she most likely knows if she has a nose.

Lost control of your senses? You do realize that smoking is still legal in this country? If you had come to me as your boss and told me that you saw my husband smoking, I would have fallen out of my chair laughing.

As far as I'm concerned unless you are < 2 years old there is never any excuse to be a tattletale. I can almost guarantee that even if your boss doesn't know about the smoking (highly unlikely) she is not going to thank you for sticking you nose into her personal life.

This man is an adult doing something that is legal for an adult to do. You may not approve of his actions but that doesn't mean you get to decide what he can and cannot do.

Golly gee I hope he wasn't eating a triple whopper with cheese, washing it down with a beer and reading the Penthouse and checking his lottery ticket numbers or the office football pool results while he had that cigarette. think of the things you could tell her then.........

I started reading this thinking that you were going to say that he climbed into a car with another woman! In either case, I would say to MYOB.

Recently while waiting for my son to come out of work (Walmart) I saw who I thought was my bosses husband getting into a truck in the lanes opposite where I was parked. It was night time, so I wasn't sure - I'm not a honker anyway, so unless he caught my eye I wasn't going to wave or something. :)

He had what looked like a cigarette sticking out of his mouth, but as far as I know he doesn't smoke. So I watched and sure enough he lit it up in the truck and sat there smoking it. I was thinking that maybe this was not him, after all it was dark out and all. I noted the license plate on the truck because even though it was the same color truck as his, it might not have been him.

When I went to get my paycheck today, I saw that it was indeed his truck that I saw - so it was him! I know it's none of my business, etc., but I don't think my boss knows that he smokes. I don't want to start trouble between them, but it's not good for him to be smoking - he has a small child and another one on the way. Okay, I'm ready to get flamed by the smokers...:rotfl:

Would you say something? Like "I didn't know "Fred" smoked" kind of a comment, or just ignore it? popcorn::
Given that you know that it's none of your business, why would you even consider telling your boss. (It should also be noted that if one of my employees tried to stir up trouble between my wife and I, I would always remember it, especially around evaluation/raise/promotion time.)

Why would the sight of someone smoking cause you to lose control of your senses? Are your sensibilities really that delicate?

I'm just amazed that the thought of doing this would go through any adult's head. It's kind of sad to me how vilified smokers are now that just seeing an acquaintance with a cigarette would cause someone to "lose control of their senses."

No. I've always taught my kids that no one likes a tattletale. I like to think that's a lesson that will follow them through adulthood.

Same here, on both counts.

You can be disappointed all you want it is still none of your business. It is a free country, it is legal and it is his health, not yours.

OP here - last post from me on the topic. I was shocked because she is a very outspoken Non-Smoker, just walking into someone's house that smokes makes her sick and it was one of the questions she asked me when I was hired "do you smoke", so to see her husband smoking was kind of surprising to say the least.

Me too! MYOB, there is no reason to tell your boss anything.

What end result did you want to see by telling her? causing them to fight? Kissing up tp the boss for brownie points?

I'm just floored that it would occur to anyone to "tattle" on a grown up for smoking. Incredible.

um, thinking "Hey, is that Ed? I didn't know he smoked!"

understandable

Taking note of his license plate number, verifying his identity as the Perp, and then contemplating tattling on him to his wife is so far out there I'm speechless.

Her husband's habit may have something to do with her outspokenness. She (They) probably make sure he doesn't smoke around her or the kids. I have a similar problem with smoke making me sick. If I'm in a smoker's house or a hotel room that was a smoking room, I'll wind up with a bad headache for sure. In fact, I don't go in those places because of it.

I can promise you (based on my own experience) that she knows. As another poster said, I can smell it on anybody a mile away. :)

Yeah-- I was expecting to get to the part where a prostitute came up was paid and did her/his "job" right there in OP's view.

OP expected to get flames by smokers, but even as a non smoker who hates the stuff I cannot imagine thinking this was in any way my business:confused3

It's absurd that you are even considering tattling on a grown man for smoking.
