stay at the Wilderness Lodge....

OR

stay at POFQ and have an extra £500 in your pocket?

....

I always do this! Book somewhere....and then get all 'oh, it's only a little bit more to upgrade'

Will i ever learn? :lmao:

£500, but then again I sort of regretted paying the extra for POFQ over Pop Century since we were so rarely in the room and only used the pool once. I'd like to try AKL one day but none of the other deluxes would be worth it to me I don't think. Just depends on what's important to you really, i'd rather have the extra spending money or even a short break away/money towards the next trip than a hotel upgrade :)

I think this is the key. We like to chill out at the resort a lot and my children use the pools regularly. If you're one of those people who literally only uses the hotel as a bed, then it would no doubt be best to stick with POFQ. However, if you're planning a day of relaxing and think you would make use of the additional extras at the WL, then go for it. :goodvibes

See, we do go to the hotel a lot, why the disneyland hotel at paris is the perfect place for me!!

But I kinda thought maybe POFQ was actually a bit more central than WL....?

Stay at the WL..I stayed in the Vice Presidential Suite over Xmas/Newyear 08 & it was "Superfuntastic" I LOVED The VP Suite at WL & didnt regret one bit the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ that it cost me:scared1: :scared1: For me it was worth every $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ that i spent..The next suite that i want to stay in is the WALT DISNEY Suite at Grand Floridan, that will be in 2010 though:)
Have Fun

Hi Torsie, I can't comment on WDW, but I would upgrade if you can afford it. I didn't regret a single penny of our upgrade to the DLH - we spent very little time in the room but it just added to the whole experience for me. I loved looking down Main Street and seeing 'our' hotel.:goodvibes I would have had a pang every time we passed it if I hadn't upgraded.

If i could afford to upgrade i would. It's nice to have a little luxury on holiday, especially since the wait for you holiday can seem so long. Sometimes its worth spending that little extra for your hols.

We were going to go for PO this year (we want 2 rooms now the kids are 15 and 18) but common sense won out and we're now going to ASMu and saving the money. So I'd say save the money.

However we could have saved even more by going off site so only you know what your priorities are.

If you can afford it stay at WL.

The boat ride to MK has to be the nicest way to get to MK. On our 1st morning we were on the boat, (but from FW) with only 1 other family. The sun was shining and we were full of excitement and the view from the boat was just beautiful.

Oh how I dream until we are back:love:  .

If you can comfortably afford it then go for it! (I am a bad influence though :rolleyes1 ) They only thing I would say is that I think waiting until your wedding to say at the deluxes will make it more exciting? But if you cant wait then just go for it!!

I have a similar predicament for our next holiday.

In 2004 we stayed at All Star Movies because the kids were younger and really enjoyed it but last year we stayed at Caribbean Beach so we could get the free dining and we loved it, it cost us £600 extra to stay there but we made sure we spent that much on food so even stevens BUT next year I wanted to stay at CB again but CB is £400 more than the other Moderates which are still £600 more than the Value resorts so if we wanted to stay at CB it will cost £1000 more than ASMo and so now i'm thinking of staying at Port Orleans although we really did like CB.

I think I would save the money and spend it on goodies!

well that is a tough one to advise on because things have diffeerent values to different people. Some people are happy with the cheapest deal they can find whereas for others the Hotel is as important as the holiday itself. And of course ones own personal financial circumstances play a very big part in any such decisions.

Now for us it was easy, we stayed at POR Riverside for our frist trip (of a lifetime!) and loved the resort and remember saying to DW that the room was just what we needed and that anything better would probably be a waste of ££ as we were out of the room so much.

For our second trip of a lifetime (!) we initially priced a return to POR and then changed the booking to WL and AKL. Such great resorts make it difficult to return to Moderate. This year staying at VWL, HRH and AKV; for use the hotel is really important and we only live once and need a holiday of a lifetime every now and then :)

Stay at POFQ - its our fave resort by far! I would much rather have the extra money to bring more souviners home to remind me of the trip!

Why don't you split your stay?

That way you could try both hotels and still save a bit of money. Disney will arrange the transfer of your cases so all you have to do is throw your bits and pieces in the case and go somewhere for the day and then arrive at the new hotel.

We did this on our last visit as we were staying at POR and wanted to try WL and it worked out great:)

This time we are staying at 4 hotels as we want to try everything - we are greedy!!

If only I could split stay it would answer my problems! But I got my trip on the 4 free nights offer, so needs to be one resort. :(

I would judge it on the overall cost of the holiday.
We recently opted to cancel our first few nights at the Polynesian in favour of staying at the villa we had already booked for the entire duration of the holiday.
There were a few reasons it wasn't just about money, however with the nightly rate $568 and the exchange rate not great, we have saved a lot of money and can just unpack all the cases once now and get settled down properly.
Our overall cost was high as we have upgraded to Premium Economy, so for us the saving (which was considerable) was definitely the right choice.
Albeit there is a hint of regret that we will not be able to sample the 'magic' of this resort.

Split stays are a great idea, and give variety to your holiday but sometimes it can be better just to fully unpack and stay at one location.
I don't think now that a 'split stay' would suit our son at all.

I would definitely save the money and spend it on goodies we can keep forever, rather than spend it one something that will be gone in two weeks.

I am staying in POP this year, and the only resort I would pay more for is AKL.

I have no desire to stay in any other resort (especially GF, I hate the look of it personally and would try my hardest to swap it if I won a stay there! lol) apart from AKL because of the amazing views and animals. I plan to stay in POP forever more and have lots more spending money. :)

I agree with Gemma waiting till your wedding to stay deluxe will be an extra WOW

But..........

You could stay and then tell me what you think of it as I know you will VERY honest lol

I don't know - £500 for WL seems like a great price and I know you like deluxe hotels however POFQ is looks lovely and somewhere I would really like to stay.
