Would you rather use MCO or Sanford?

I'm trying to decide between 2 airlines -- Allegiant that flies into Sanford, or Delta that flies into MCO. We have flown Allegiant to Sanford twice and have had not problems. The airport is so easy to maneuver and the check-in/security line don't take much time. My sister lives down there and has been our personal taxi both times. When we go in December we will need to rent a car if we fly into Sanford as we will have all 3 kids along and not enough room in her car. There is also a considerable price difference by using Allegiant -- a savings of about $600 (already including the rental car)-- so I am wondering if we should stick to Allegiant or try Delta. If I used Delta I could add an extra day onto our trip because they have two daily flights, whereas Allegiant has twice weekly.

The other difference is driving distance to our home airport. Delta is 45 minutes away, Allegiant is 3-1/2 hours away. What price do you put on convenience????

DW would put a $600 on the convenience. I think we would fly into MCO. But each is different and you know your own circumstances.

I wouldn't go 3.5 hours to an airport unless I ABSOLUTELY HAD TO.

I won't even drive the 2 hours to Philly to save money on SW. EWR is only 25 min away. With just carryons I can be home 30 minutes after I get off the plane. That is why we're spoiled on airports. It's worth the extra money, in my book.

I would fly Delta in your circumstance. I sure wouldn't want a 3.5 hour drive to an airport that, with a December snowstorm, could be a lot worse.

OMG -- I never even thought of a snowstorm...and I live in North Dakota where they are quite frequent. WHAT WAS I THINKING?????:rotfl2: If the flight gets cancelled by Allegiant I am so screwed as they only fly twice a week. I think I'll go the Delta route.:goodvibes

The only issue with Alligant is if they do cancel a flight, you are pretty much screwed, and stuck as they don't have the inter-deals with other airlines where they will put you on another flight.

Being from Michigan, the snow is always an issue for us, too. Happy planning!
