Would you rather go 1 day or not go at all?

If you visited WDW before, one day visit is def a great stop in your vacation. You already knew about the park and knew what is important to your MK visit. This summer, my family will spend a day at MK before our Disney Cruise using our old tickets. We can do one more park day if we want, but we rather take it easy and spend some time at our home away from home--Port Orleans Riverside. One full day at MK is perfect for a dip in the Disney Magic.

1 day visit! We actually just had this situation come up during Spring Break. We were in Phoenix to watch Spring Training. Saw that it was only a 5 1/2 hour drive to Disneyland and we had a day with no games scheduled. We drove over the night before, went to Disneyland the next day, and drove back to Phoenix the next day. It was totally worth it!

Depends on the time of year - spring break crowds or christmas crowds - nope. But in the fall or winter or mid-May or even summer - sure.

But I've driven the 8 hours there just for 2 days in the parks quite a bit so I'm probably not the person to ask. :rotfl:

We are actually doing this in May on our Orlando vacation, we do wdw every year (39 trips), but we were able to get a sweet deal on a condo, so our 15yr dd is taking 2 of her friends and we are doing sea world, bush gardens, aquatica, and we are dropping them off @ universal(they have 3 day ticket), and my dh and i are doing epcot on the last day of flower/garden festival which is my fav. so, it's going to be really weird just doing a disney park for 1 day, we decided to go to wdw next year when everything will be open. we are excited about our may trip though, we are still going to the poly to eat qs and watch fireworks on the beach, and going to eat @ wpe @ dtd so we are getting out disney feel for now.

If you had asked me 6 months ago, I'd have said that I would have definitely gone to the park (as long as MK, Epcot, or DHS was recommended - if it was going to be a high crowd calendar day and AK was the only recommended park, I'd have passed). Things have changed for me, though. We are doing a parks-free trip this summer. Since we are going back in December, I thought that we might want to go ahead and go to Epcot one day this summer so we could do the new Frozen ride with our daughter since we will most likely be using a FP on Soarin' in December. With how they have increased tickets combined with the fact that we would not be able to be there for rope drop due to other plans, it just didn't make any sense. So, there are definitely times I'd rather not go to any park than to go on just one day, especially if that one day would be crowded. Now, just one day in early September but after Labor Day? I'd probably go.

We have had long trips and one day trips, and I can totally relate to how low that sadness can be after one WDW day. I think it would be different if you had an AP and knew the one days could happen all year long. I also think that if you have been on long WDW trips, when you only go for one day, you pine for the things you missed...maybe a nice sit down meal in World Showcase, or escaping the Yeti in Animal Kingdom, or rockin' it out with Aerosmith...

Still in the end, one day at WDW is a day well spent! :flower1:

For the past 10+ years I've went on a week long beach trip to the Tampa area beaches with extended family, and have taken day trips to WDW or US several times and enjoyed it. Now that I have more vacation time and can afford yearly Disney vacations, I doubt we'll be doing that. If we were to go a year or two without any Disney trip though I would be fine with a day trip during our beach week.

All or nothing for me. We're a seven-hour-drive away, so we could do long weekends if we wanted. We both prefer that full-week immersive on-property experience, though, so we wait and go every few years.

If I lived in Orlando, it'd be different. I do like the idea of having an AP, and just chilling in a park for a few hours after work whenever I feel inclined, or spending a Friday night having dinner and riding our favorite attractions. That would be blissful.

I love the timing of this thread! My husband and I are going on a quick anniversary getaway weekend (10 years!!) at the end of the month. One day at Universal and one day at Magic Kingdom. I keep wondering if I'll wish for more time, but since it's just the two of us...kids are at home...I'm guessing it will be a totally different experience and we'll be able to fit a lot more into one day than we normally do into 2 or 3. :earsboy:

I have done as little as 5 hours at a park to get in a piece of Disney, usually if I get in a day early during a USO/IOA trip. There have been numerous 1 day trips when I have gone to Tampa or Daytona. I know going in that these are going to be relaxed visits where I might get in so many attractions, catch a parade or fireworks.

The last two times I was in Florida I was not able to make it to a park. In 2014, before a Disney Cruise, we stayed about 10 minutes away from the parks. We went to DTD and B&C at BC. I was debating a park visit the next day, but instead had to take my dad to an emergency dentist. Then last fall, we went to Siesta Keys with a large group and decided to just relax at the beach instead of making a day trip over like I had hoped.

Right now, I am actually considering a trip where I might only get 1 or 2 days at a WDW park, but it might be a spur of the moment trip later this year. My travel plans for 1-2 years have changed drastically over the last 3 months that I am not making any long plans for now.

I'd rather be at Disney than sitting on my couch right now. So yes, I'd do one day in a heartbeat. We skipped WDW last year in favor of a DCL cruise - I loved every second, but I miss the parks.

We flew down in October for just one day/night. We went to MNSSHP. It was a little hard going and only doing one park but it was so much fun. I used to be the kind of person who wouldn't get in a plane without making it a nice long trip or it wouldn't be worth it to me. Now since discovering super cheap flights on Frontier I do more frequent short trips. It helps knowing I'll be back.

I was in Pasadena for a work trip in July 2014 and we had an afternoon off. We drove (3 of us) to Anaheim and spent 10 glorious hours in California Adventure and it was one of my favorite days in any Disney park!! We even paid for the one-park, one-day ticket! :) Would definitely do it again in a heartbeat!

The first time we did a day-trip (as an adult anyway) was in 2008, 6 months after an amazing week long vacation (which was the first time we took DD, and the first time I had stayed on site).

While we had fun, it really did make me sad because it brought back so many memories. And of course it just wasn't the same.

Since then, we've done lots of 1-2 day trips and I've come to really love them. I think a lot of it is your expectations. And NOT trying to make it just like a long vacation.

I'd say that we would do it as well. Being that we don't make it to the world yearly..I'd definitely get some park time in if I could afford it at all!

One day is better than nothing- I have had a few one days there and its over fast but worth it.

Kind of a weird question to me.... Who wouldnt take 1 day over no days? Some time is better than no time

For me it would not be worth the money. I would not fr badly having s day and leaving, but I doubt I could justify the amount for a one day pass.

I've done plenty of one-day trips to WDW and had a blast every time. I don't think it's possible to waste a visit to the parks unless you really work at it.
