I want to pay the resort on the phone right now, just to get it done. I checked all discounts and I am all set with all I can get.

Would you pay ahead like this? Any drawbacks ???

Thanks

Can't imagine there would be any drawbacks. I paid in full about 6 weeks before I had to just to get the Reward Dollars on my account before I went to WDW. If I'd paid at check in I wouldn't have received the Rewards to use during the vacation. I would just make sure you got a faxed copy of the receipt so there isn't any problem with one computer talking to the other when you arrive.

We ALWAYS pay for our room ahead of time; I just mail them a check when I receive the confirmation. One less thing to worry about!! Once we paid ahead and got a discounted rate after. Well, it was really nice having an $800 credit upon check in!!! We also get all our passes ahead of time, too. More money and time saved!! :cloud9:

As long as you are certain there will not be any additional discounts, then go for it. Just keep in mind if an additional discount comes out that you want to apply once your balance is paid off, it is a bit of a hassle, not so if you still have a balance due.

The best way to go is pay now. Eventhough is thee is a discount you will just get a credit to your room at checkin or your money back. I have done this for a friend of mine.(I am a dvc member so I don't have to go that route anymore.)Nice to have a credit at checkin!!!

We have APs, so we book room only ressies, so I NEVER pay until I am there checkin in....I figure if God Forbid something happens where we dont make it there, cancelled flight, whatever...I dont have to go through the hassle of trying to get the money back, etc. Apparently though I am in the minority

I really cannot imagine the circumstances under which I would think paying ahead is a good deal. Maybe it is that accountant in me. It even bothers me that they charge my account in full before I have completed my stay....

I guess the day before is not a big deal - will not make much difference. But paying well in advance just allows them to make more money off your money and you to make less. Most of us have money in an interest bearing account and lose that float if you pay well in advance.

Of course - my goal is not to get a tax refund either - I try to pay just about what we will owe. If we owe 100 bucks - great - if we get a refund of more than 100 - I have done something wrong. Allowing the govt to have my money when I could have been using it - to spend, to invest, to save - is just wrong IMHO.

But there are people who love to get big refunds.....I would think if you enjoy big refunds from the IRS - then maybe prepaying for vacation is ok.....

I often pay off our trips before we go. I like paying a monthly amount & not having a big bill at the end of our vacation. It is easier for me. Yes, I guess I could put the money in an interest bearing account, but this is what works for me.

I pay off my room before I arrive and I like it, one less thing to worry about, less money to have to carry with me and for me it just works.

I have a special job I use just for my vacations so what I get every month I tuck aside and then pay a little bit every month. Interest in an account isn't enough for me to want to do that, I think I would walk away with maybe 2-5 dollars.

I always wondered what happens when you pay in advance and then find discounts, codes, sales, etc. Can you get the credit for Disney dollars or just send it back to your card or both?

I do know that they will put that credit on your room, and you can use it to charge in the park or the resorts. If worse comes to worse, I suppose you could buy Disney Dollars and then cash them in before you leave WDW. I believe you can do that at the hotel gift shops.

Maybe, but I'm right there with you.

Have a ressie on Best Western DTD for 5 nights with no deposit and nothing due till I get there. It's being held with a credit card card. I also have a room only ressie at AKL CL for 2 nights with a credit card deposit for one night. I have a 2 day cancellation policy on the 1st ressie and a 5 day on the AKL one at the end of the trip. That way I didn't have to worry about the weather tripping us up since we are driving down and will know soon enough if we can't go. We also have a Sunset Safari held on our credit card, but no deposit. We will pay that when we get there and we have a 48 hour cancellation on that. So far it looks like the good weathter is going to hold. :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

We paid in advance and then got an email code and applied it and we got a $600 credit upon check in which was really COOL! We paid for several meals including the Cinderella Breakfast which was the highlight for the two princesses with us. Don't worry, there's no hassle they just credit your room, its like found money! Enjoy!

I book online these days and they require you to pay in full two weeks before your arrival. I have no problem with that.
