Oh no, I'm not comparing it - there is no comparison! Just SAYING that it's a lot of money when compared to outside WDW prices and quality and a hard pill to swallow when forking over cash for it.

But, I'm thinking we should swallow it anyways and try it. I love AKL and really enjoyed Jiko last year.

For that much money, I would just go to Jiko. I didn't like Boma btw, but I love Jiko.

You cannot eat at Jiko for $30-35 per person which is what Boma will be for this couple.

By the way OP I would suggest you skip Boma. It is a great meal, but not one that you'll value as much as many of us. Continue withyour off site meal plans. Just about any Disney buffet is going to cost you $30-35 in the end. Even Trails End which will cost a lot less will still seem expensive considering off site is your basis for comparison.

We went and loved it and will return some day; on or off the DP.

It's worth it to us, because it's one of our favorite restaurants at WDW. But some people aren't that crazy about Boma. You could try it for breakfast, it's a little cheaper, and the food choices are more standard than dinner.

One thing I've learned, don't compare the prices at WDW restaurants to outside restaurants - you know going in that you're going to pay more at WDW than outside restaurants. I know our first trip we freaked out at $6 for a hamburger. Now I guess we're numb to it, we just pay and don't give it a second thought!

Boma and Ruth's Chris are completely different and are in totally different leagues. Boma is a buffet with all that implies. I hadn't realized Boma is now so expensive. It is not worth $70 for two. We ate there once for dinner and never went back. I'd go to Ruth's Chris, then stop by AKL to see the animals. Or, I'd go to Jiko, and either (i) skip the appetizers and split the dessert or (ii) have a variety of appetizers, skip the entrees and split a dessert. With either (i) or (ii) you can probably keep it to around $70 or so for two.

Boma is my DH's favorite restaurant. We could not pass it up. Do you have APs? Maybe you could get the DDE card which would save you 20% on your meal. It's $60 for AP holders and you have to eat $300 at TS restaurants to break even. You would save about $11 off your meal at Boma's.

Yes $70 to eat at Boma, but meals are more expensive at Disney than they are are "at home". We love eating at Boma -- food we can't get at home.

We love Boma. Yes I agree $70 is on the higher side for 2 for a casual dinner but I think you get the value and quality there. Plus just awesome atmosphere that can't even be compared.

I have to agree with the above poster. I know that $70 seems like a lot for two for dinner; but that is in the "real world." For the atmosphere and special things about Boma, it is almost a bargain.:worship:

I would!

We're doing breakfast there for the first time this trip. I  the dinner buffet!

We have always eaten at Boma on our twice yearly trips and it has been a great experience. Having said that in February I did not think the food was up to par. Hopefully this was a blip and next time will be back to normal.
I have never found it to be not worth the price so give it a try.

Actually, Jiko's appetizers run from $26-37, so yes they could eat at Jiko.

I voted Yes its a must do because I think its a must do at least once. I would want to try something different next time I go because there are so many restaurant choices at WDW. But in saying that I really enjoyed the food and the experience. DH definitely wants to go back. It was his favourite restaurant all trip. We were a group of 11 and everyone had a great time and found more than enough choices to eat from the buffet. And yes, anything onsite is going to be expensive. I thought it reasonably priced from a resort point of view.

Dinner for two at Boma - $70 - Having to unbutton your pants on the bus ride back to my hotel afterwards - PRICELESS!! :rotfl: Boma is absolutely our favorite restaurant - anywhere - in or out of The World! Please go for it - I don't think you'll be dissappointed. Even if you don't like the adventurous dishes - the Prime Rib and desserts alone are worth the cost of the meal. Jane

IIRC, Jiko's appetizer's are pretty small. They could "eat", but it would end up like that credit card commercial where the couple raids the convenience store after their fancy dinner :lmao:.

FWIW, I do agree with others that Boma has been a lot better in the past. The soups, for instance, used to be out of this world. Now they have a chemically/starchy/silky undertaste to them as if they replaced roux with guar gum and corn starch. Luckily, the rest of the food is just as good as it was before.

 Hi Aimee!!!!

$70 no way....just our opinion but we would not go back if it were free! My feelings on this buffet is quantity does not mean quality, YUCK! People flame me all the time on this, but it is one of those places people either strongly love or hate.

Consider yourself flamed! :lmao: Only kidding. It is funny - you are right - people either love it or hate it. Jane

My "flame-worthy" restaurant dislikes include Le Cellier and Liberty Tree Tavern. LTT ... now, there was a waste of $100!

You seem to have reservations about going. Maybe it's not for you.

You'll get opinions on both sides.

I'm a Boma lover. I love their food and I love the theming of the restaurant. I'd rather spend $70 at Boma than at Le Cellier.
