Not on the dining plan, not eating much on site table service food this trip because they raised the prices and lowered the quality (just my opinion!) and we can easily eat off site cheaper (and often better).

That said, Boma has been a spot we've always wanted to try and haven't.

Boma would be about $70 for us (with tip/tax). That's a lot of cash for a buffet, we could almost do Ruth Chris for that.

Would you fork over that much to eat at Boma? Or should we put it off until we go back on a DDP or something that would cover it?

You seem to have reservations about going. Maybe it's not for you.

You'll get opinions on both sides.

I'm a Boma lover. I love their food and I love the theming of the restaurant. I'd rather spend $70 at Boma than at Le Cellier.

If you've never tried it, I'd recommend going just so you can find out how well you like it. You may totally love it. This is not your normal Old Country Buffet.

And if you don't like it, well, you'll have tried it and now you know.

We love Boma. It's so different than what we could get at home. I can go to Ruth Chris' anytime, but eating at Boma in WDW is an experience.

I chose Eh Not Sure because we have not eaten there yet, going in Oct for the first time. We had breakfast there twice on our trip earlier this month, also first time trying it, and we were blown away at how awesome it was. If dinner is anything like breakfast I cannot wait to go!

We enjoyed our dinner in January. There was an excellant variety of food and desserts. Service was wanderful.

After dinner, we went outside to see the animals and then sat with our friends in a lovely seating area and enjoyed the lovely evening.

If you decide to do Boma, let us know how you like it when you return
:cool1:

YES you cant get Boma back home. We eat there every trip so we may be a bit biased but we love the food at Boma. I am assuming Ruth Chris is a steak house and that you can get at home.

You absolutely can not compare Ruths Chris to Boma. They are completely different. However, Boma is one of my favorite restaurants and my dd who was 5 at the time loved it as well. We liked it so much so that we cancelled CRT and ate there again during our trip. The food is different and super yummy.

What can you get at Ruth's Chris for $70? A salad and a potato?

$70 for how many people to eat at Boma?

Well, their entrees run $20-$40 (filet is about $35), veggies to split is $8, so $70 would almost pay for it! (their salad is 6-7, potato is 8 - though prices might be regional - I'm just using a menu I found online  )

It's just me and DH dining at Boma - $27 a person, plus tax and tip.

Oh no, I'm not comparing it - there is no comparison! Just SAYING that it's a lot of money when compared to outside WDW prices and quality and a hard pill to swallow when forking over cash for it.

But, I'm thinking we should swallow it anyways and try it. I love AKL and really enjoyed Jiko last year.

Well, we'll be forking over the cash to try it on our August trip! Boma is a restaurant that I have wanted to try on our last 3 trips and we still have not made it there! We are going back in August and Boma is the one place that I am going to make sure we get to!!

It isn't a must do every time, but definitely worth it once. Make an evening of it. Go to the storytelling, spend time outside looking at the animals, check out the lobby and then EAT the ZEBRA DOMES!!!

We plan on going back this trip. I think you may find enough items to make $70.00 seem worth while.

I enjoyed Boma but I wouldnt say I was over excited about it... although i think it may be because so many people had told me how amazing it was and really bigged it up...and it didnt live up to my expectations.

however I think you should give it a go, if its somewhere you've always wanted to try. Like you say you are saving money eating mainly offsite so this could be your one splurge!

Boma is our favorite restaurant. We love the variety and flavors that you can't get anywhere else. The soups and stews are outstanding and they'll give you the recipes if you ask.

They also have night vision goggles in the evening; so that you can see the animals on the safari. Check the activity board (inside to the left wall beyond the bell-hop station) for times and locations. AKL has many activities that occur during the day and evening.

I was not comparing the two just stating that I can get in my car and be at a Ruth Chris in 1 hours time. I would have to fly to Disney to eat at Boma. The two are apples and oranges. Disney prices are high but no higher than my local vacation resort restaurants.
