I went to an open house and saw a great apartment (new construction). It had 3 bedrooms, kitchen and living room but no area to put a dining room set. It did have a terrarce deck big enough to throw parties on (20 people). Neighborhood was great too. But why would someone think $600K is worth a home with a tiny living room/dining room space. Maybe I'm old fashioned.

No kitchen? I wonder if this person ever thought they might want to sell the house someday.
Maybe an outer borough. Personally, my dining room feels like wasted space - and we entertain 3 or 4 times a month! just on the deck and in the kitchen and living room - so if square footage went to other purposes, I'd be totally OK with that. Is it a hallway-style kitchen? Can you put a table and two stools in there?
