Would you or have you ever flown on a turbo prop plane?

Ok...what was it...the turbulance? Or was it the loud engine noise that got to you? We're very accustomed to air travel, but we've never traveled in a plane this small. We'd be taking the kids with us and I don't want them scared silly...not to mention myself!

Well, I think it was a variety of issues... first, it wasn't the engine noise per se, but the vibration of the plane.... the propeller's are out the window's & it just does not feel safe.... I will never do it again, given any other alternative on this earth.... next time I'll take the boat! And, I hate to say it, but even my 10 year old who loves to fly didn't like this plane.... He couldn't wait to get off either.

On an aside, our pilot was not young or too old, he was pilot age LOL....

Honestly, it's no big deal.

You know, there are thousands of turbo jets and propeller planes flying safely every day . . . probably more than the number of larger commercial jets.

I just got back this afternoon from a charter flight on a 6-seater Cessna, for a 1 1/2 hour flight to Sioux City. Very smooth, pilot very professional (He'd flown me a few months earlier to Mason City). And yes, you even get drinks and snacks on the flight . . . at no charge!!!

I've also been on an even smaller 4-seater in the past.

Fly it all the time...either that or drive 3.5 hrs each way to the nearest large airport.

Don't like it, sometimes regret it (turbulence can be a little stronger), but it is not too bad. Just don't plan on conversing with anyone!

Flew on one between Reno and Salt Lake. One seat on one side and two on the other.
We had to be re-arranged once we boarded to evenly distribute the weight on the plane...
Sat across the ailse from a marine that had a death grip on the seat arm and never took his eyes off the propeller... :faint:
When my son returned from the lav, he very sweetly told be that he thought it would be too small for me to fit... :faint:
But all in all an ok experience! And I agree with previous posters...if it's a vacation...get on!!!!

I have had to fly on them VERY frequently. Just flew one back and forth from Toronto last week. They are definately not my favorite but just remember that you won't be on it for very long.

Very noisy but very safe just like any other form of airline transport ::yes::

well--if they weren't safe, we'd be hearing about a heck of a lot more of them crashing, now wouldn't we? ;)

On that note--I prefer not to take them...however if it is a trip I need to go on and their is no other flying transport--we suck it up and go on it. We had to do this for a family reunion. We lived to tell the tale.

They are noisy and I think you can feel the turbulence more. However--they fly just fine.
