Heck yes I would and do.
Sometimes, regular customers forget their cards. A couple months ago, I had a rental car so my card was on my car's key ring at the shop. The cashier who knows me as a frequent customer used her own card.
If the person in front of me has forgotten and doesn't have one, I volunteer mine. Not a big deal.
I simply cannot understand the drama this question has caused!! She wasn't asking the woman to PAY for her purchase for the love of God!! I'd try to save $.50 too. And if you feel compelled to say no, can't it be done politely?? I don't understand the hullabaloo.
But then, I also have been known to borrow lipstick from my best friend.
