I know there has probably been a lot of questions like this, but DW and I are torn. We are DVC members and have not been to WDW since Nov of 2019. Back in the spring when we knew we would have our shots, and all the trends for Covid were down, we book an Oct 12 to Oct 17 stay at BLT. Now, especially in FLA, its a totally different story. This trip will just be me and DW (Mid 50's and in very good health) and we are trying to decide whether or not to cancel. On the one hand, Covid/Delta is crazy now, especially in FLA, but on the other hand we are fully vaxxed, our flight is out of Canada on AC (i.E. all will have to be vaccinated to fly) are renting a car (no disney transit) and have booked all our ADR's at Resto's with a patio. We are planning to go to the parks, but rides will only be an option if we feel it is safe and we wear our masks.

So......would you go in our circumstances? WE MISS DISNEY! :)

@thebigman65 - I am following your thread since my DH are I are in the exact same position. Trip booked Oct 10-14 at WL, followed by a beach vacation in Naples. Also both mid 50's, fully vaccinated, fit and healthy. We had hoped to be able to drive down as we usually do, but are willing to fly and rent a care to keep our vacation plans. We are sitting firmly on the fence but need to decide by end of the week. We want to go so badly, because we miss Disney and need a vacation, but we don't want to be irresponsible. I have family in the US where life seems to be business as usual, so it is difficult to reconcile that with the travel restrictions.

Are you prepared to isolate for two weeks in Florida if you test positive before your return flight? I think that's the only thing I'd be worried about really, not being able to get on the flight home. Or being sick once I get home. I think the testing requirements to travel are the real impediment at the moment, outside of the risks of course.

We certainly could be if we needed to. The testing doesn't seem all that daunting to us. I have read lots of advice on various forums and groups. Seems pretty straight forward. Mainly for us the decision comes down to ultimately how risky it is for getting Covid.

In your situation,I would go ,as long as you don't come back to family that aren't, or especially children under 12 that can't be vaccinated, unless of course you would isolate yourselves from them. With people being vaccinated ,I find them to be less careful with distancing etc. and don't realize children are at even greater risk than before, because the people responsible for them might forget that they are still and even more vulnerable

This is the question I ask myself when I think about travelling at this time. Am I prepared to live with the consequences of contracting Covid in order to take a holiday? This question will be answered differently by everyone and their risk profile. Do your research on Delta and decide.

Disney will be there when we are through this, your health? You've got a lot of life yet to live. It's a tough call and only one you can answer.

Similar situation. We are both vaccinated and healthy. Kids (all under 12) would stay home. Trip is mid-November... will FL be better by then? When can our kids be vaccinated in Canada? So many unknowns to be able to make a decision on cancelling.

To answer your question directly—no. We just cancelled a dvc reservation for a week in November. Also cancelled February trip that was to be dd’s graduation gift. Don’t forget with each passing day your vaccination becomes less effective. I really believe now is not the time to travel. Too much risk. Even if vaccinated.

GO! Ur vaxxed
Use smarts like ur masks snd bring hand sanitizer. FLAs highest numbers are non vaxed people and seem to be higher in Lee cty not up there.
wishing u safe travels and Enjoy… you ve done what you can … just keep ur guard up.
Added… have family there now, MK today walking on rides, just heard from them. Fingers crossed it remains that way … masks n disinfectants n enjoying it all .

Just a note about your flight. You said "all will be vaccinated to fly" which is incorrect. While soon you must be vaccinated to fly WITHIN Canada, you do NOT have to be vaccinated to fly to the US. So no, you can't assume everyone on your flight is vaccinated.
That is unclear as of yet. Statement from Gov just says Canadian flights, trains, cruises. No mention yet of only within Canada. But, you are correct, we cannot assume that until we see the actual policy and that may not be in place for our trip.

I'm making a similar decision about Las Vegas in about 6 weeks and Florida in November. Have a work conference in Vegas and Disney in Nov. I've decided that I want to fly out of Buffalo so I'm letting fate decide, if the border opens that I can drive across on Sept 21 I will go, if it doesn't, I won't. I don't want to risk being stuck in Florida or Las Vegas for the two week quarantine period. I want to be able to do my covid test to cross back in Buffalo. So if the worse case scenario happens I can just drive myself home.

As some have already mentioned, it's something you would need to feel comfortable about.

But, if I were in your situation, I would postpone until next year.

My family and I have a DCL cruise and WDW planned for Dec holidays and we're still not sure we are going. I have PIF for the cruise in order to book onboard/port adventure activities, but DCL has given us the choice to cancel with full refund in Oct, but we need to make the decision for my DVC bookings by end of Sep which is when I need to bank the points if we're not using it...so it's just so much uncertainty all around.

I can empathize.

It is tough choice only you two can make for yourselves. I am in the same boat except we are booked for Disneyland. I did break down and book flights, we were contemplating driving but the borders are still not open and hubby isn't sure he can sit that long for the drive. We are both vaccinated, will wear our masks and sanitize like crazy. This is something we do at home normally anyways so that won't change.

I am trying to learn how to live in this strange world we are in and get my life back to some sort of normal. I am not sure what the new normal will be but I know that we will be living with covid around us for a long time to come and need to find a balance.

That's kind of our thoughts.....we know there is risk, but we need to start living! Not sure I can go though another winter stuck at home for the most part......we have another vacation with the whole family booked for April, but that is far from certain, especially with a 2 year old coming along. I know you all know.....but this sucks! lol.

Where are you flying from? We are flying from BC. When I had decided we could try to drive to reduce the amount of contacts we would have going down. Hubby says to me "So you are worried about a 3 hour plane ride but we are going to Disney with all those people?" Yup ok no rational thinking there LOL
Numbers are going up here like crazy, that is on my mind too.

I'm here now. At the moment sitting in a cabana at Volcano Bay. Yesterday was IOA and the day before was UO. We transfer to Disney on the 1st. So far I gave not felt uncomfortable or at more risk than I would be at home anywhere. No one is coughing and sneezing on us and most people are wearing masks indoors. The crowds have been so low so far that I've not run into a circumstance where I didn't feel like I could be distant from other people. We are 3 fully vaxxed adults. This is just my experience so far. I hope it helps you make a decision

I wouldn’t/ won’t go now while their cases are so high and their local resources are overwhelmed.

My family is fully vaccinated and we take reasonable precautions . The last year and a half has been exhausting and lonely and stressful and we’ve reached a point where we don’t feel this is ever going away. Learning to live with it means a return to leisure travel at some point for us , just not Florida until their cases stabilize. I’m still hopeful for January.

Agreed with Pigletto. Looking at the number of cases in both Florida and California, I am considering a personal moratorium on Disney vacations for the next couple of years. But then, I am older than many on this forum. Sad thing is, I have a few of the old no-expiry WDW tickets tucked away.

I would not go to a place that has an overwhelmed healthcare. If we were to require medical attention for any reason, we might not get the level of care needed. Add to that never ending daily record of cases...

We ended up switching or August WDW trip to DL in California. Very happy with this decision. We had a great time!
