If it isn't safe enough to take your mask off in public areas, it isn't safe enough to cruise.
I agree and cruising is very different than being at WDW.....only so places you can go and limiting outdoor areas like pool decks just isn't feasible...people like to drink on deck...dont see masks as possible

Of course! I don’t see many downsides, except maybe a little discomfort. If they’re required on land to do tasks like shopping/working, why not wear it on vacation?

If only the same requirements for cruises were required on land, there would be no Covid. Selective outrage and the cruise industry wound up being the Covid whipping boy. To this day, in the worst pandemic in our lifetime, still no action by the CDC against any other industry on the planet other than cruising. Makes no sense.

As long as the rule is “no mask required when eating or drinking,” I’m fine... I’m ALWAYS either eating or drinking while on a cruise. 🤣🤣
And that's the issue they had at WDW. People abusing the "no mask required while eating & drinking" rule. They then said, you have to be seated in an eating area, while eating & drinking to remove your mask.

If it were just my husband and myself we might, and just experience a “Covid Cruise” experience. We have only cruised with our kids so that would be a no go.

We have this debate as a family quite often (5 adults) and honestly its been a fun conversation and I think the only person who hasn't changed their mind during the last few months is me who said "yes" forever. We've done a few places in the UK that require masks to go around and although initially most of the family felt it was going to be awkward and they didn't want to they actually didn't mind in the end and are now more open to it. I personally am happy as long as I don't need it on while eating in a restuarant or while drinking in a bar. I can cope with all other areas. The great thing is you can't easily wear makeup with a mask so that saves getting ready time lol

exactly, I want to be on the Disney cruise and I have no issue with what ever restrictions and new procedures Disney will put in place in order to sail. If mask wearing is not required by the time I sail, I will be THAT person wearing my mask at all times when I'm not in my room or in a restaurant.

No thanks. While I wear my mask indoors in public spaces, outdoor spaces where I can not distance, I'd rather not outdoors on the ship. We are lucky enough to live in an area where we are spread out enough to walk, hike, bike and be able to social distance w/o the mask. I need that freedom. I can't see myself up on deck, early morning, walking, taking pictures with the mask on. I wish I could, but I can't. Maybe my mind will chnage if they start sailing. We shall see.

Vacation is about relaxing. I'm not going to be able to relax and worry about getting sick. I wear a mask all day at work and anywhere inside in public but I can't see being able to relax on vacation like that. My daughter has adjusted so well at school wearing her mask sometimes I have to tell her she can take it off once we're in the car headed home. We're currently booked on the Dream for Christmas. It's $6500 for the 3 of us, plus plane tickets to get there, place to stay at least the night before. That's way too much money to spend for a trip and not be able to relax. At this point I don't see us going but we'll hold out about another month until closer to PIF before we pull the plug. Things have changed so fast we might as well wait and see but don't have much hope. We've already decided if we aren't comfortable going at PIF we'll get a refund and wait until we feel comfortable to book a last minute cruise.

In June, I would have said no...but after being at Disney from 7/25-8/8, my answer is yes. We had no issues wearing masks even in the heat...as long as you can have a nice long a/c maskless lunch break.

Nope!

I have no problem wearing a mask. Masks don’t bother me at all. My 4 and 5 year olds wear masks without issue. My problem isn’t with wearing masks.

As long as covid is spreading and masks are required to slow the spread, I do not believe it is safe to cruise at all.

I don’t think Disney cruising will resume anytime soon, anyway. As long as covid is spreading, cruising is near impossible - masks or not. There would still be “mask off” time for eating and swimming. If there’s a rapid test people can take before boarding, that could help, except people could be negative one day and turn positive while on the cruise. IF a vaccine is ever available, it will take a long time for it to be available to whoever wants it.

Pandemics and cruises are just not compatible.

I can’t share your feelings that Cruising is the ONLY Covid-19 Poster Boy(the other term leaves me a little uncomfortable)
I feel the professional sports and professional theater have it worse than cruisers. They’re still not allowing social distancing at the games or theaters. And those are 3 hour to 7 hour events.
At least the athletes can play. NBA did it right, thanks to Disney’s help with quarantine at their hotels.

I must have missed the article that mentioned the CDC ban on those venues.

There isn't a ban CDC ban on specific sports or sporting events nor entertainment situations, those are handled by the local and state authorities. I get you're upset that your interpretation that the CDC is targeting the Cruise industry, but the CDC is the authority entity that oversee's the industry, they aren't singling out cruise lines, they're singling out the environments that ALLOW the spread of infections, and as has been shown since the system wide shut down and subsequent restarting of some cruises in Asia and Europe, of which most all have returned with crew and passengers with positive infection results! That shows that cruise ships foster and incubate the virus simply because of their enclosed environments, not that passengers are responsible or are actively knowingly spreading the virus, but shows that it's unlikely that cruises can safely resume anytime in the near future with out some kind of vaccine or antibody treatment that will prevent infection. Clamoring to resume cruises with out some kind of protection or mitigation for chances for infection first won't really result in changing the expected decisions about what the CDC will do.
