I’m a definite no. Not because masks bother me but because I’m not willing to cruise while the risk is high enough that they consider the mask rule a requirement. I’m fine with the idea of masks being required while the risk is high and happy if that was what was needed to go to the supermarket and do other everyday life tasks. A cruise is purely an optional luxury activity and not worth the risk. Plus if you feel uncomfortable with the way people are behaving or the rules are being enforced it’s not like you can just get in your car and drive home from a cruise ship the way you can from other places on land.

I can't blame you. I have no idea if masks will be required come July 2021 (currently have a trip to Disney World scheduled then) but with all the reports and positive experiences, I'm really tempted to go even if masks are required.

Same for DCL, mainly because my last cruise got PPD/canceled twice, and I haven't been on DCL since July 2017. And, wearing a mask on DCL probably would be more tolerable than WDW since not all public spaces on the ship are outdoors in 150,000 degree heat, lol
Mask in AC is a lot more tolerable than outdoors in the heat. I know either way I'll be waiting for a while, but with a WDW trip I'll be waiting knowing that the parks are open rather than waiting for DCL while cruising isn't running. In the end, my boyfriend and I came up with an agreement of what to do. So for now we will just have to wait and see what happens.

We were just at Disney World for 9 days. I can't say the trip was perfect, far from it, but masks were not an issue at all; heat/AC it makes no difference, we barely noticed the masks were there. I'm a firm believer in trying out several masks until you find one that is comfortable for you--a few we tried went straight in the trash because they just weren't very breathable; we just used a different kind: problem solved. My son pointed out it's no different than other stuff you have to wear but isn't perfectly comfortable on vacation, like long pants in summer when we went to a signature restaurant, or water shoes and floaties at the pool/beach.

I am the original poster and honestly I am floored that this poll is even close. I thought for sure 90% would say no way, like I did. It amazes me how many people will continue to pay top dollar for any experience as long as it has Disney attached to it......
I think a lot of posters respond that way not really considering the cost, just hypothetically considering if the experience could be enjoyable at all. Sure, it would still be more fun than work, but I don't pay $1,000 per day to go to work.

I was in an Aulani social media group recently, and it came up that it could soon be possible for tourists to go to Hawaii & be allowed to enjoy their full resort for the first 14 days, as long as they wore electronic monitoring bracelets. Most posters said they wouldn't pay to fly to Hawaii just to spend the entire trip never leaving Aulani, especially having to wear monitoring bracelets, but some posters said yes, they thought it would be worth it.

My point is that there are always going to be some Disney diehards. That doesn't mean there are enough of them out there to keep Disney vacations afloat. Disney social media boards aren't representative of the general traveling public.

No way are we going on ANY cruise with ANY cruise line for the foreseeable future.

My short answer--of course not!! At bingo? In the pools?? Walking around deck 4???? In the theater????? What fun would that be???

the same fun as before, the EVENTS haven't changed, its just you are now wearing a hat!! geez, wearing a mask is not going to impede your sight or hearing or your enjoyment of a show or playing bingo.... OMG, people are so over thinking and making it into such a big deal... I guess someone wearing a hajab on a Disney cruise in 2019 didn't enjoy bingo as much as you did , cos they were wearing a face covering!!!

I'm not surprised. There have been more of these polls and more often the reply was about 50/50. And I think it's not just that it needs to have 'Disney' attached to it, but for many people it will be a sense of going back to a form of normal to go on a holiday.

Also, when you see what Disney can do under the circumstances in the parks and still able to bring some magic and bring some Disney experiences, I think it can work on cruises. Modified doesn't necessarily mean bad or less good.

I've been lucky and actually had a great summer.... at no time did a mask interfere with me having fun and enjoying life.

I had a great vacation in Germany in June (masks required inside). In July, I had a lot of fun on my trip to Georgia and Alabama and had many great days at Universal Studios. This month, I've been to WDW 5 days now, and I'm having just as much fun as always. So yes, should they start cruising again, wearing a mask won't keep me from going.

I actually feel sorry for those who let something as simple as wearing a mask ruin their enjoyment of life. Honestly, it's just a mindset.

Maybe because masks are becoming an everyday thing for many people and people are finding that wearing them is not as big deal as they thought??? Many people thought WDW with masks would be a big deal but people are seeing its not. Mask wearing is becoming more socially acceptable and people are seeing that its going to be a long term thing and attitudes are chnaging.

Its just like when seatbelts were introduced into cars, there were people who wore them straight away, there were people who refused to wear them and there were people who wore them only when they had to. But now its automatic when you get into a car to wear a seatbelt.
I respect your opinion but strongly disagree...those going to WDW now are mostly Florida residents. A small portion are taking long vacations. I have heard the seatbelt argument and to me it's complete apples and oranges. One you wear while already seated in your car. The other is worn 99% of the time, while you do everything except eat and swim. I don't believe it's becoming socially acceptable. We're doing it because we have to right now, but long range this will not be acceptable to most. Most people who have canceled their trips (i'm in this group) have done so because of the mask requirement.

Masks are something that probably is keeping people away, yes, but there are many restrictions.

There are many travel bans. The Mexican border is closed. The Canadian border as well. Many domestic bans/quarantines. There are tensions between US and China, significantly reducing flights. There are EU and other international travel bans. So, even before deciding "Is it worth it to go to Disney when I have to wear a mask" they can't go. They can't cross that bridge. They have to cancel their trip.

Sure, the majority of guests at WDW are locals, but they could just not go bc of the mask requirement. WDW is essentially their backyard.

IMO the travel restrictions are the big reason. Yes, no one wants to wear a mask, I think that is a secondary issue but there have been many reports even from the Dis Unplugged that they had a fantastic time at WDW despite the mask requirement

I also feel like many couldnt even afford an expensive trip like WDW with all of the people out of a job. They would not be able to afford a DCL trip either.

It will likely be the same for cruise line, depending on when operations restart, what the world looks like at that time, what bans are in place, what requirements are in place, etc.

Will cancel if masks are required once on board. The way most people wear their masks is a joke. At best they are a placebo and make people feel like they are doing something. If masks are required then it is clear that cruising isn't safe.

That I agree with 100%...kind of like in the 1960's when they made kids hide under desks for fear of a nuclear attack

If you are counting on others to wear an actual protective mask and to then wear it correctly all the time, well good luck. If masks are needed cruising is not safe.
agreed...this is why I dont think you'll see cruising until 2022
