Would you get morning AK FP or afternoon MK FP??

We will be at AK and MK on Saturday, October 24th. We only want to do four or five things at AK: safari, EE, dinosaur, and FOTLK. We plan to hop over to MK that afternoon. Should we use our FP at AK or should we wait and use them at MK? I'm pretty sure that AK is the recommended park for that day and of course, MK is not...

Use them at MK. Get to AK for rope drop, and you hit Everest and the safari first. Then do the other, and then hop over to MK.

Just IMO but - any day I am spending any part of the day at MK, I am pre-booking my FPs for MK! Especially on a Saturday. You are either very brave or a glutton for punishment. (sorry, but I went to MK on a Saturday night in a low crowd time on my first trip and swore never again!)

We'll be facing this same dilemma during our December trip. This is the problem with a 1/2 day park(AK) versus a full day park(MK) and FP+...........oops I forgot there is one really big exception in that our MK afternoon/evening is during MVMCP party. So this makes our choices a bit different. We're doing RD at AK and the only must do for us would be the Safari.........we'll go right to EE......maybe ride 2X without FP's. However, since we can book MK FP until 7pm on a party night............that may be our play..........or maybe not...........o_O Still thinking this through. If this was a normal day...........I'd do MK FP's for the afternoon and evening.

I would do AK rope drop - you'll get a ton done, and then FP+ for MK in the afternoon.

Use them at MK, but it's imperitive to hit AK at rope drop. One thing that is not clear from your post is where that date falls in your trip. If we are on a 7 day trip, Saturday is usually our departure day, which makes hitting rope drop anywhere extremely tough.

I agree with everyone else. If you get to AK at rope drop, you should be able to do the attractions you listed without horrible lines. MK in the afternoon is almost ways crowded, so definitely use your FPs then.

Would it be worth looking at switching our days to not be at MK that afternoon? The only thing that would change is we might miss the MSEP if we switch days...

I agree, use them at MK. You can get an amazing amount in, in my experience, during the first hour or so after rope drop at AK. MK is always busy later in the day, you'd have a better use of the FP.

Why would you want to switch?

Get to AK at rope drop, ride the 4 you want to ride, should be done with those 4 and leaving the park after about 2 hours. Head to MK and either have your FP's starting around noon, or later in the day.

There's really no reason to book AK FP's in the morning anytime as it really doesn't get busy too quickly

I would rope drop AK. Get FP+ for your must-have rides at MK. If it is a crazy busy Saturday you could consider doing Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom. Saturday before Thanksgiving (think busy) we did HS in the morning and then we went to the MK just for SOTMK. Since the SOTMK adventure takes you all over the park, without timelines, we would play the game and then if we saw a ride with a pretty short line we'd go ride it.

Since you'll have your 3 FP+ already you know that you'll get those rides in, and SOTMK will keep you moving around the park in search of your next portal...... as you go through the park you can stop and ride a ride with a short line or if the lines are long you can continue on with your adventure. You always have something that you are doing (searching for a portal) so the long lines may not be as big of a disappointment.

Whenever we have a day where we are in two parks, one of them being MK, we almost always get our FP+ for MK. We just make sure we are at AK when it opens, and we have no problems getting on all the rides we want. We usually do Everest first, followed by the Safari and it's always gone smoothly.

AK is pretty easy to do at RD or get 4th+ FP+ in the afternoon. We have gone over after lunch both in March and last summer. We were able to get EE 4th FP+. I was also eventually able to get Safari FP+. So, it's relatively easy to do without FP+, especially compared to the big ticket rides at MK.
