I skimmed over the part where this is a pattern of behavior. It might then be a good idea for the manager to say, "I can open another register but I will need to take the next person in line."

Hang around the Dis long enough and you will hear this term frequently. It is an overindulged child who is treated as the center of the universe by his/her parents. The child is not expected to adapt to the world, the world is expected to adapt to the child.

We have one of those across the street. Likes to cause trouble and he is really bothering my 10 year old. This child I think is 7. Mom thinks he can do no wrong. It is always someone elses kid.

One's with extenuating circumstances might just get first call. I don't begrudge them, I don't want to walk in their shoes.

So if 6 people are in line do you poll them all and ask them what their circumstances are and then decide the order to wait on them? We have lines for a reason. Wait in line. If you can't wait in line, come back later.
