Would you eat this reheated food?

Here's the situation: you have 2 shifts of workers and they buy food enough for both shifts to have a cookout during lunchtime. The first shift has their cookout but for some unknown reason whoever is cooking decides to cook ALL of the hot dogs. He then takes half of them, puts them in a container and puts the container in the fridge so the next shift can warm them up again either on the grill or in a microwave.

So you are a 2nd shift worker. Would you reheat these once-cooked hot dogs and eat them?

Yes. My kids have eaten re-heated hot dogs many times.

As far as being 'safe' - YES - the hot dogs are safe to eat.
It takes considerable neglect to make hot dogs inedible!

As far as would I do it out of principle?
Uh- I don't think I would.
It's kind of rude to serve yourself hot food when you expect other to re-heat their own.

It's like having everyone over for a dinner party - but you decide 6 hours before it's set to start that you'll go ahead and cook everything NOW because you are hungy - and then pulling the meal out of the fridge when they arrive - and invite them to put their plates together and just to get in at the microwave to heat their meal. :scared1:

Yeah - I think it's really rude!

If I was at home yes I would eat them reheated.
Are you asking because second shift feels they should get fresh cooked just as first shift did, or because how do you know they didn't sit there for hours in the sun before they were put in the fridge?

I worked second shift. I have seen how food has sat there for hours and managers thought it was ok to serve to second shift. So unless I knew for absolute positively for sure this person was following food safety codes I wouldn't eat them.

I always thought hot dogs in the package are cooked and just have to be heated up to eat. As long as I trusted they didn't sit out for too long, I would reheat them.

I'd just reheat and eat.

I'd prefer fresh grilled, but, rather than assume the worst and blow a gasket over it, I'd just assume the "first shift cooker" just wasn't thinking. I'd probably mention to the first shift folks that next time there's a cookout, we'll just grill our own food, thanks.

Sure, hot dogs are OK to reheat and eat. But I agree it is very rude of whoever decided to cook them all.....oh and make sure they kept cold, I wouldn't want to eat anything that was too hot after cooking. :)

Nobody is blowing a gasket, it's more a question of why bother to cook and reheat something that only takes a minute to cook in the first place? That plus making sure it's safe. Since most people say it is I'll pass that info on. Either way I live close enough to go home for lunch.

Oh geez. First shift/second shift thing.... I think it's nice that first shift bought enough food for second shift in the first place. If you don't want it, don't eat it.
I would. And I would say thanks.

You make it sound like somehow the first shift was being nice doing the second shift a favor. The first shift didn't do anything. The person who runs everything bought for both shifts but the first shift person cooking threw it all on the grill. They ended up going to the store and buying more. Whoever wanted to reheat them did plus they cooked up another batch. I skipped it entirely but when I came back everything was gone so I'm assuming everyone enjoyed it.

Maybe the first shift thought the second wouldn't have a grill going or have time to start a grill and thought it would be nice to grill them so the 2nd shift could just warm them in the micro BUT have grilled dogs.

Heck yeah I'd eat them. I probably wouldn't heat them I love cold grilled hot dogs especially if they got really really brown on the grill.

I'd pass I'm not big on hotdogs. I also don't dig reheated food that I didn't cook myself but maybe thats just me.
