Hello everyone! I am a long time lurker and first time poster  My DH and I are planning a trip for Sept 24th-30th. This is our fourth trip together and my 11th time to Disney. So this is my question....since we have been before...would you take a 1 day break and go to Universal?? :confused3 Neither of us have been before, but it looks really neat on the website. The only thing is I feel guilty for abandoning "the world" for a day to go to a park that I know won't be as magical. For those of you that have been to Universal....is it worth it?? Please help!!

Universal is worth a trip in my opinion. However, you will find it hard to cram everything into 1 day if you are planning on doing both parks! (Which you should, as they are both great in their own way!)
Welcome to the board! :cheer2:

We've done Universal twice in 25+ years of WDW trips.

We don't bother anymore, but there are plenty of folks who DO like it.

You should certainly see for yourself.

I say go and see for yourself. But I'm guessing you'll be right back to the 'Magic' in no time flat!! :wizard:

I would go if you have never been before, see what you think of it. I have the been there done that view but then again I've been there, once in 99 and again in 04. It is fun I just prefer WDW. Go and find out what you think.

:welcome: to the DIS!

Yes, go to the "dark side" -- at least once.

Next year (2007 trip), because we are going for 8 days, DH insists we go to Universal. Since he puts up with my Disneyholic attitude 24/7, I figure I have to go for his sake. Just teasing, I think it will be fun to try it out. I am planning two days for US & IOA ...

I know your question was "is it worth it" and I don't know yet either but I think you will enjoy it ... just to see how wonderful WDW really is ... once you return to the fold. :teeth:

I do enjoy Universal, however WDW is just LIGHTYEARS better.. I always plan for a Universal day and end up buying another WDW day onto my park hopper.. haha. But if you do go to Universal, you should buy your one day pass for Islands of Adventure -that's more fun than the classic Universal imo.
