Would you do Rainforest Cafe or Bahama Breeze?

We'll have 3 small children with us. I was at rainforest cafe several years ago, and see to remember it was a bit loud. I'm concerned it might be a little scary for little bitty ones.

I've never been to bahama breeze, but it seems pretty popular around here.

But Rainforest is on our "must do" list for each trip.
Plus both locations are on property so getting there may be a little easier.
There are slightly quieter areas - the whole restaurant is pretty loud, but if you are not sitting directly under the animals it's not so bad. My son is so distracted by the fish tanks that he hardly notices the "thunderstorm" when it happens.

I've never been to Bahama Breeze either, but took my GD to Rainforest Cafe the first time when she was 9 y/o. We were seated at one of those table for two right next to the elephants. I had told her the elephant would move later, but then I guess we both forgot about it as we ordered. A few minutes later she hit the floor (literally) as our elephant started trumpeting and moving his trunk. Everyone around us rolled with laughter as she was picking herself up off the floor. I didn't think she was going to come back to her seat. Her eyes were big as saucers and she was almost in tears from embarrassment. Anyway, my point is, if you are seated next to an elephant or under a chimp be sure to warn the kids ahead of time that they do move and make noise. My GD round up loving it, by the way, but kept reaching over and touching the elephant periodically as if she didn't quite trust it to stay bolted to the floor.

These are two totally different experiences.

If you want to be entertained and are into "theming", go to the Rainforest Cafe.

If you main concern is quality of food, Bahama Breeze wins hands-down.

FWIW, when my son was about 2-3 years old, he was terrified of Rainforest. The "thunder storms", gorrillas, etc, were too much for him. Other kids LOVE it though.

WE love Rainforest Cafe both for entertainment and food. But...while we were there two weeks ago (in MA) there was a little girl, maybe 6 or 7, hysterically crying that she wanted to leave. I mean she was extremely upset. Eventually the hostess came and found them a table near the entrance where it is much brighter and less noisy. Only you know if your kids will be scared or not. If you don't think so, take them, I bet they'll love it.

We went to both on our trip last month. Our 6 yr old DS enjoys both places. The service and meals were excellent! I recommend both places:thumbsup2

When did a Bahama Breeze get put on property?

Bahama Breeze in a heart beat>
Rainforest = worst service on property, loud enough to enduce a migraine.terrible food

Bahama Breeze by far. This is my family's favorite place. The food is really good. The last time I went to Rainforest Cafe at DTD the service was awful. We waited like over an hour and a half for our food and this was at lunchtime and that was after waiting close to 30 min for the server to come to our table to take our order. Never again will I go there.

I agree I think Bahama Breeze has the better food. Rainforest Cafe does have great theming. I'm not sure about the little ones being afraid though.:confused3

I've never been to Bahama Breeze, but we did Rainforest Cafe when our DD was 3. We thoroughly enjoyed it, but she did not. It was way too loud and scary for her. Now, she does have a sensitivity to loud noise anyways.

Bahama Breeze is not on property but is very close by( near the Marriott Village)
I think the poster meant that BOTH locations of Rainforest Cafe are on property

Okay... I knew there was a Breeze in Orlando but for some reason didn't consider it to be all that close to DTD.

The Breeze does have good food (I'm a big fan of the kabobs), but since there's one near me already I'd prefer RFC.

For kids I say Rainforest, but if you think they will be scared of the animatronic animals and thunderstorms do not go...the food is very good, similar to Planet Hollywood, Hard Rock, Fridays etc.

We LOVE Bahama Breeze and eat there all the time (there is one close to us). The food is great and the drinks are out of this world

The first time I went to rainforest my middle girl was three. She was scared to death and cried for a while. Luckily the place is so loud that no one was disturbed. Bahama Breeze is really good. The food at rainforest is OK, but nothing to write home about.

It's two totally different experiences, I liked the rainforest cafe when we went (we got in within 15 minutes, which I was surprised about) and the food was good from what I can remember. You are absolutely paying for the atmosphere there, but you kinda are no matter where you dine at on property.

BB is nice too, we try to go when we are in FL but I have always had long waits there (usually over an hour).

I've had good food and good service at both places so I really don't think you can go wrong with either one. I kind of felt you got more food at the rainforest but the prices seemed better at BB, so I guess it kinda evens things out. I like both restaurants just depending on what type of mood I'm in, I love the laid back feel on BB on a summer day. But I love the energy of the Rainforest when at Disney cause it feels like more of an experience than just a chain restaurant that I can go to anytime.

So, I'm not much help... I say set aside enough time to visit both!

Bahama Breeze is my absolute favorite restaurant ever! There's nothing like their creole roasted goat cheese appetizer, their almond encrusted salmon, their cinnamon sweet mashed potatoes.... and of course, the BAHAMARITA! To die for!

However, I wouldn't go there while in Orlando. We go to our local Bahama Breeze a lot, and I like to do things on vacation that I can only do there. (There is a Rainforest Cafe in Michigan but it's a pretty significant hike from us).

I'm a little shocked that kids are afraid of Rainforest Cafe! I think you should gage your kids' ability to handle stuff like that and decide accordingly.

But the food at BB is simply amazing. :) Good luck choosing!

OMG I loved this too. I was just talking to dh about it yesterday -we had it more than a month ago and I can't stop thinking about it  I never thought I could fall in love with an appetizer but I have...:rotfl:

Why? The place is VERY loud and lots of kids are afraid of thunderstorms. My ds 5 is ok with it but ds 3 is scared to death of it -just like his older brother was at that age

If you are talking about the one on Highway 280 in Birmingham, they took the kabobs off the menu quite a few months ago (it was my favorite, too!).

And to top that off, the restaurant closed about a month ago.
