Would you dare to put something in the mini-fridge at the RP?

We stayed at the RP during Hurricane Charlie and the front desk staff was really rude to us--I really felt looked down upon.
We are staying there again, I am willing to give it another try and chalk up the front desk staff rudeness to nerves before the storm.

I did not realize the room had a fridge, and I had medicine that needed to be refrigerated, but had planned on keeping it on ice in a small cooler, but when we got to the room, I decided to ask for the mini bar key so I could put my two small vials of medicine in the fridge instead.

When I went back to the front desk to ask for the mini bar key, she kind of groaned and said we were not allowed to store things in the fridge. I asked her what made her think that I would not buy anything from that fridge and then she reluuctantly let me have the key.

So with that long story, when you have stayed at the RP, did you use the mini fridge for any of your own stuff and "get by with it" and what did you keep in there?
I would like to put my medicine in there again plus the coffe creamer that I like. What will they do?????

There is a fee to "use" the fridge. They usually take everything out if you want to do that. Not sure how they can tell if you used it.

I bring coolers.
If you're looking to save money, it will make sense to visit the Publix, and load up before checking in.

Most good hotels will supply a refrigerator free of charge if it is for medicine. I am not sure, but depending on your condition you may qualify for special treatment under the American Disability Act. Hotels are supposed to make reasonable accomodations (including providing refrigerators) for people with certain illnesses. I would think that diabetics with insulin or special food needs would qualify. Ask to speak to the hotel manager.

My Sister used the fridge at RPR to store milk for my Niece. She was never charged and nothing was ever said to her. That probably depends on the housekeeping associate cleaning your room. They're the ones who'd know if you were using the fridge to stash your personal items and they'd be the one to report it. I guess you'd just be taking a chance. I agree with E&B's Mom, let them know it's for your medication. :)
