Would you consider this "cheating"....

OK, bear with me, this may be long.

My family will likely go back to the world January 2008 for about a week give or take a day. We are me, dh, a 3 YO and a 7 YO (at that time). My dad and stepmother might go as well - they really want to.

My dad and stepmom are not stay on site people. They own a timeshare and have never done the whole Disney onsite thing. (My mom and stepdad have and brought us when we were young - but with my dad, we always did the offsite thing). I really wanted to have my parents try the onsite thing. I THINK they may like it (my dh thinks they won't lol).

My dad says we will just get a 2 bedroom at the Sheraton Vistana - we have done that 3 times before I think. Once me with my parents and my son, once just my parents and dh and I, and once just dh and my son. Never DH, me, my two kids, plus my parents. It would be too many people in my mind - I know we would fit, but dh and I would end up sleeping in the living room. :lmao: and we don't want that for a whole week.

OK, so I was thinking getting two rooms at Pop - paying for both and gifting my parents the trip. But, I know in my heart my parents would NOT be comfortable in one room for a week. They just wouldn't. They also would want a car - just who they are.

So, last night I thought about the All Star Music Suites. Now, we wouldn't all stay there happily (that would be smaller than the Vistana!), but dh and I would like it for us and the 2 kids. I thought about it and wondered if I could reserve it with all 6 of us in the room (even though my parents wouldn't actually sleep there - they would sleep at the Vistana) - for 4-5 nights. I could pay for my parents to stay in the room, their park tickets and the dining plan for the 4-5 nights we stay there.

I know it isn't exactly honest since they aren't staying there, but in reality, we are paying for them to stay there (and they will pay at the Vistana) - so it will really just be less wear and tear on the room, I think. I can't really figure why it would be bad, but I may be missing something....

For the last 2 - 3 nights we would go stay with them at the Vistana and do other Orlando stuff since they will have the car.

I thought it would be a way to introduce them to staying on site - yet easing into it. :rotfl2:

Is this wrong? I am really trying to look at it from all angles and don't want to do anything that would be cheating.....is that cheating? And, if so, why?

Isn't the suite maximum.. like.. 5?

I'm not sure. Just asking.

I don't see how that would be cheating. You are paying for their dining and tickets. They can spend some time in the room with you (as you are paying for it and for them) as they'd be paid guests of the resort.

Well, if you are paying the cost for them to stay onsite up to the legal occupancy of the room and purchasing DDP up to the legal occupancy of the room - others may disagree but to me it doesn't seem like you are trying to get away with anything, or indeed that you would be getting away with anything. Anyone could decide legal limit is just too crowded and book a second room elsewhere (?)

Yes, see it would probably be cheaper in the long run to buy their tickets seperately (they likely won't do as many days in the park as we will - but they might), and not get the DDP for them (as they could - and probably would - eat way cheaper than $80 a day), but I would WANT them to join us for meals, order whatever they wanted, etc. I want them to see how much fun it all is.

Everyone in the room needs to be on the same package. If you are paying for them to be resort guests and they don't stay there that is your concern not Disney's. I don't see anything wrong with it.

I agree that this is NOT cheating unless you consider it cheating yourself. Disney is getting more then what they would have and I think it would work well as an introduction to your parents. My dad was an off-site guy too until my DS's talked him into on-site now he acts like on-site was his idea and anyone who doesn't stay on-site is crazy. Silly but atleast now he is a convert.

Nope, can't see anything wrong with this, you are inflating disney profits, not cheating them out of them:goodvibes

I agree.

Book the Suites and have a great time.

I hope you enjoy them as much as we did!

Have fun at Disney! :wizard:

I don't think Disney cares where your parents sleep. You are paying for them and that's all that matters.

I wouldn't worry about it one bit.

Have a good time.

and won't it be wonderful to have them come back mid day to just cool off, rest, relax, swim and see how conveinent it all is??

you are paying, and since they will do everything but sleep there and who knows??? naps are good stuff!

have a magical visit.

Another thing to consider . . . you said your parents own a timeshare . . .

If the timeshare they own trades through II, why not trade into DVC? They would be able to trade into a 2 bedroom at OKW for the exchange fee, plus a $95 Disney Fee.

We have done this several times without a problem. The key is to be flexible . . . units usually show up on II about 6 - 9 months out.

If you need more info, just PM me.

I had no idea II traded into Disney! I will mention that to them. They have contemplated dumping the timeshare, but I am encouraging them to keep it. lol.

They REALLY like the Sheraton Vistana (we call it "Del Boca Vista" from Seinfeld lol) - so getting them to leave it may be a hard sell.

Glad to know so far people think this isn't cheating.

Thanks guys!

We enjoyed our stay last June @ Sheraton (Cascades) beautiful imo; but were glad to get onsite for 2nd portion of trip for EMH.

You will get charged $10 extra for each adult (18?) over 2 in the room :scared1: ; sorta hard to 'fudge it' when you buy tix in pkg. Of course, i'm sure someone has figured out a way around this;) :confused3 .

If you're planning on DP; ALL must purchase it too.

Hi Keishashadow - yes, we would get the DDP for everyone. The ASMu Suites seem to charge the same price if you have 6 people or 4, from what I could tell from my initial checking of different configurations online - it was like $300 a night.

We're doing something similar in September.

When the "bounceback" free dining came up in December, we booked two rooms. Myself and Hubby in one room, my friend, her hubby, and our BIL in another room (with the extra adult charge). There were only two adults present on the December trip, so we could only book two rooms.

In addition, our BIL is booking a separate room at AAA rate to actually sleep in that week.

So my BIL will have two room keys, one that has his dining credits on it, and one that is his room key where he will sleep.

We told the Disney CRO rep that's what we were doing face to face, and he said no problem.

There was someone here on the boards last year that went during free dining and stayed somewhere else and payed for a values room for the dining plan.

This is NOT cheating.

An anology. . .

I book a hotel room, I go to MK on EMH night until 3, I go off site to dance until dawn, I go to my room, shower, have room service breakfast, then go to a morning EMH, then check out. ..

I didn't actually SLEEP in my room. . .am I cheating??

Quit worrying and have fun!!!!!!:hippie:

nope not cheating where they stay is no concern of WDW.
