At my daughter's school, if your kids are not on a bus, you need to park and pick up your kids in the gym. There are not a lot of parking because it is used by the teachers also. There are maybe 6-8 open spots not taken plus the 2 handicapped spots. The rest of the people need drive around the parking lot and park in the spots meant for the town playground/sports complex. Its not a far walk at all but you do need to drive around the parking lot to get there.

We have to wait outside by the side door to be let in. There is maybe a 20 x100 grassy area with a walkway to the door. There are also 3 reg spot and 2 handicapped spots along this area. There is this one lady who parks in the handicapped spot near the door entrance ( she does have a sticker) but cannot park at all. She either ends up on the curb ( where we all have to wait to brought inside) and almost hits someone or she is halfway into the driving area. I don't think I have ever seen her park between the 2 lines.. Most of the parents know to run when she is coming but last week she backed in and had her 2 drivers side tires on the curb and 3 feet into the driveway so no one with a larger car would drive by. She also came withing 2 feet of hitting a stroller. She left her car there and went inside. No one will say anything to her because she is disabled and a little crazy....

One of the mothers wants to complain to the principle because she is afraid that one of the preschoolers and toddlers that are with there parents are going to get hit. I am not sure if the school can do anything...or if it would help at all?

I would let the school know that you are worried that a child maybe hurt. (I would rather be safe than sorry.)

I would say something to the principal or to whomever is in charge of pickups. Clearly, she's a safety hazard as well as impeding the walkway for other parents. Simply point out that she seems to have trouble parking correctly and that others can't get by and that she impeded the walkway could they please speak to her? Not that it will work.

We have a parent every morning who paarks directly in front of the drop off steps in the "drive thru" drop off lane every single morning. Cars have to go around her to drop their kids off and the kids then have to cross the parking lot in front of other cars to get inside. Did I mention there are plenty of parking spots? Or she could simply pull forward to the end of the building and people would have plenty of room to drop off their kids and she wouldn't be impeding traffic. I don't know how many times she's been told this but continuies to park in the same spot every day while she take Jr in.:confused3

I'd notify the school and frankly, the local police. Parking on a curb gets a ticket. Remember, she's "parking" in other places too. She's not only hazardous to the school, the parents and the children, but to the general public.

So no one has ever said anything? I would certainly talk with the principal.

Are there police that works with your school? Perhaps you can address it with them?

At dd's schools we have a police officer that is assigned to the school. They are there all day. They direct traffic, address parking safety as well as take care of infractions.

Start with the principal and then go from there.:thumbsup2

as far as I know there is not a police officer. It is only the early Childhood center so it houses only kindergarten and 2 preschool classes.

I think one person said something to her kind of jokingly and she said " What's the matter with my parking?" and walked away..She definitely doesn't seem all there some of the time.

Absolutely, I think someone should tell the Principal. ::yes::

Is this lady picking up a child as well? :scared1:

I would absolutely say something, why wouldn't you? It's not like she will find out who said anything, just tell the principle that a bunch of you feel this way, I highly doubt the principle will say to her, "Mary Smith told me you are a hazard to the kids."

I couldn't NOT say something. If she ever hit a child I would never be able to forgive myself for looking the other way.

One more thing......

You could also type a letter to the principle and leave it with his assistant, or in his mailbox and sign it, "concerned parents."

Maybe they could call the parents of the child the woman is picking up and alert them that the person who is driving their child may not be the best choice for a ride home.

Good Luck, it's a tricky situation.

In the afternoon all kids are brought to the gym. one side is for walkers the other side is for the bus kids. The parents of the walkers need to sign their kid out with the teachers. We are not allowed in the gym until all the kids are on the bus. So we have to wait out by the side door to the gym. There is a small backward L shaped area maybe 10-15 feet from the side of the building to the parking lot. Most of it is grass but there are 2 small cemented walkways. 1 goes to the gym door, the other goes to the preschool entrance..Most of the parents stand on the walkway because the grass is muddy.

here is something I made because I was really bored:scared1:

she is usually parked like this and blocking traffic or all the way back on the walkway!

and no that spot is not a real parking spot....

She is picking up her daughter

If it were me, I would take the principal by the hand and lead her outside to see what the woman was doing.
But I am a pain that way.....:lmao:

I think one of the other moms is going to ask her to come out and take a peak.. The principle is very strict ( but great with the kids)

If she has trouble parking ... she has trouble parking. I guess that maybe she needs to be told to be more mindful of the people around her, but I don't think her parking job is going to improve! Good luck :).
