Would you change your way of vacationing at WDW if money was no object??

During our yearly visit we take a "money is no object" approach. We are DVC members and stay in a 2 bedroom suite, and pretty much eat wherever and whenever we want and spoil the kids rotten with souvenirs.

I work hard all year long (long hours, constant travel thoughout the US and Europe), and refuse to cut corners or scrimp for our vacations. Yes, we are lucky to be able to have the opportunity to do this but I need this 2 week period every year to remind me of what I work for - it's certainily not for the house, cars, electrical bill, gas bill, etc.

It's for my wife and two little girls.

If money were no object, we'd go more often, and try out every resort that took our fancy. We'd take our whole families (separately, otherwise it would be a bit much for everyone).

First, we'd do the YC. I'm planning on that anyway next August surprising DH which is why it isn't in the countdown, but we won't be taking parents, siblings, nieces and nephews without a serious change in financial situation.

We'd fly executive class if we didn't have much time, and drive down in a leisurely fashion if we did. If flying, we'd take a limo instead of a towncar.

We'd do a trip just to stay at AKL and do the Animal Kingdom. Since we never manage to do it all in a trip, this would be nice. We'd stay concierge so we could do the safari.

We'd stay in the CR for a trip because that's where DS would like to stay. We'd have a terrible time trying not to gain weight that trip because of the nearness of 'Ohana, but we'd do the Haunted Mansion eleventy hundred times! :teeth:

We'd fly down just for MNSSHP. And do the special dinner dance thing whose name I forget at the moment.

Yeah, things would change. Not that we don't enjoy the way we go there now, but there's so much more we could do...

Kungaloosh!
Mort.

I'd like to stay in the presidential suite at the beach club. I would also like to try to presidetial suite at AKL.

If I hit the lottery big, I would probably just move to central florida.

I would definitely do a lot more if I didn't have to worry about money! I would definitely want to stay at all of the deluxe resorts, including those rooms that are over $1000 a night. I would also take longer trips and go a few times a year (as opposed to once every few years). I would also definitely go to some of the nicer restaurants, and buy a lot more souvenirs.

I have to say that DH and I vacation well beyond our means, thank goodness for 0% interst credit cards. But somethings would change - we would probably stay longer. I would love to stay for 10 days. And we would stay at the Grand Floridian at least once. Otherwise I think we would still eat the way we do (we tend to do one nice sit down resturant a day) and we always fly. Maybe I would fly first class though.

I would buy into DVC, enough points for 2-3 weeks per year. Other than that, I'm not sure what I would do.

#1 purchase outright 400+ DVC points
#2 Stay ONLY delux....2 weeks twice a year (mixed in w/the cruise....Western)
#3 Rent water mouse(s) and that BIG boat/yacht for fireworks/dinner at will as well as bikes
#4 Prince Alberts royal table etc. for dinner
#5 buy up some special disney art in the Marketplace
#6 Purchase every Disney costume my DD (4yr old) wants...iif she's a good girl
#7 Stay in parks after hours
#8 Room service / concierge and delux rooms
#9 purchase whatever clothing I want...even those 68$ nice sweatshirts in Canada.
#10 GF for spa treatments...all of them...Manicure/pedicure...all of it!
#11 Get updated charactures and silohouetted cut out thingies...oh and that GIANT floatie type ball for our DD.
#12... Send home some rice krispy (w/choc. on top) treats for when I am withdrawing after the trip is over.
#13 take all the tours!
#14 Relax and enjoy all of the above & then some with NO WORRIES and no debt.

I always thought I took a money is no object trip because we always stay where we want, for how long we want, eat what we want, and buy what we want. But now that I think about it I would love to stay in the suite at the Poly just once. The King Kamaha suite or what ever it's called. There is no way I could afford that without cutting out some other stuff. I don't even think it would be worth it but since money is no object I would go for that!

Mortlives, are you talking about the Happy Haunts Ball? I'd do that, on the top package every year for me & a few close friends (like all 25 spaces!)

I'd have another home, down in Orlando. Then I'd stay as long as I felt like staying each time. I'd throw a private party, at least once, in MK, after regular closing hours.

I'd take family down again & I'd also send my son & all his friends (instead of one) down for their HS graduation present. He could take his buds on every trip, cuz our Orlando home would have 4 bedrooms - plenty of room for company.....

I am Blessed - I have been able to stay at nice resorts, have AP's, done Illuminations Cruises, Richard Petty, ate more than well, doing Happy Haunts this year - I really couldn't ask for any more. I am so Grateful for what I have been able to do so far.

oooooooh! Good thread!

If money were no object, well let's see....

:earseek:

We would charter a plane to fly us down to Orlando, buy into DVC and stay for two weeks at least two or three times per year. We would try out a suite in one of the deluxe resorts (I would love to stay at one of the YC suites.) Hmmmmm....what else......Get an AP each year and not worry about where we ate. Maybe we could try out some special family event or set up a private party for family and friends through Disney. Aaaaah to dream!

Anyways, I feel lucky that I've been able to go as much as we have in the past few years, so I'm pretty happy with what we've got!:hyper:

Like the previous poster, I would charter a plane. I already have DVC points but would buy 500 more and then maybe I would be happy. This is a great post, by the way!

2 above posters are ahead of me...I was thinking, gee, I could book our flights according to our exact days/times, not according to best fare, and if we felt like staying longer I wouldn't need to worry about those "penalty fees". But chartering the plane is a WAY better plan!:p I'd go the UPH ticket route and FINALLY purchase every picture from every ride / attraction that is taken of us! We usually get 1 from the trip, but I always wish we could get them all. We have been very fortunate to stay at ASMU, CBR, Dolphin and the Contemporary...so I can honestly say any is fine, and now I can leave a bit larger of a mousekeeping tip. Oh yeah, I'd probably go the fridge route instead of the cooler...I know I could do Club or Concierge ...but regular works for me...if I could just eliminate that airfare!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My DDs and I have had this discussion a dozen times! :teeth:

We'd do a really long, stay at all the deluxe resorts trip, probably two weeks at each one! That way, we wouldn't feel so rushed at each park - we'd take more time to just absorb the atmosphere. We'd spend more time at the resorts as well - I'd love a spa day, sigh...

chimed in on this one saying "I'd get my mail there!"

I would stay at Deluxe resorts for 3 and 4 weeks. I would S-L-O-W down and enjoy the details because we'd have the time to do it! There would be days of just sitting around at the pool and just heading to the park for the fireworks!

I would take all of the backstage tours.

I would hire a character to have lunch with my kids.

Isn't this fun to think about?

Barbara

Absolutely! My husband and I honeymooned in the World this past May for 11 days on the Gold Plan. I would stay using the plan on every trip, it can't be beat!!!!! Do what you want to do whenever you want to do it...the sky's the limit!

I just thought of something else-I heard some rich person did this once, and thought it was so cool! I'd fly to WDW (probably by charter) just for a special meal sometimes. Can you imagine how neat it would be-"Hey, I feel like eating at the 'Rose and Crown" [or wherever] Saturday night-let's go!"?
