Would You Buy GF DVC If You Already Owned at BLT?

If there really turns out that they are building a GF DVC ;), would you buy in even though you own at BLT which is already on the monorail? How many years when they were building (or did they already wait till it was built), did it take before they announced BLT as a DVC?

Yes. Then we would alternate split stays with BCV. BCV and BLT, next trip BCV and GFV.

I like the GF, but that isn't enough for me to add points there... All of my points are at BLT and I feel there is a benefit to a potential new DVC section at GF... It will take some pressure off of BLT for bookings as more people will want to stay at at GF.

If memory serves, the steel structure of BLT was completed and interior finishing work was well underway before it was revealed as DVC.

No I own at BLT so I don't want another monorail resort. My answer would be the same if they were adding onto the Poly (which I know many people want). I would rather add on at one of the EPCOT resorts or AKL. That way I have more choices at the 11 month window depending on the type of vacation I want to have. I would like to stay there sometime but don't have my heart set on it. I have a feeling it will be a beautiful DVC resort.

I own at BLT and VWL so would not buy at GF. I too would like an Epcot resort but would be tempted to buy at the Poly should it ever become a DVC.

No. CR was my favorite hotel and BLT is perfect for us. With 1 MK resort and also owning at BWV as an Epcot resort I think we're set.

I can't imagine needing another Epcot or MK resort. While GCV is tempting, we don't go to Disneyland enough to warrant that.

So, nope. BLT is good.

I think it depends. If they ever decided to figure a way to finish that walkway, then we might.

But, we love BLT and always loved the CR location so don't really see the need. We actually think our next buy is going to be BWV so that we can ensure BW view rooms when we stay there.

Nope. Own at OKW and BLT. The GF is very nice, but I feel a little out of place there. AKV is next, or maybe VGC.

My experience has been that the GF is the snobbiest and most uppedy resort on-property. I try to only go at Christmas and then it's just to see the Christmas decorations. I have always felt like I Was being watched when I was there with CM's acting like, "What are THEY doing here?" {nose up}

To be honest with you, and I mean this as sincerely as I have ever meant anything in my entire life, I would stay there once just because I never have and then I wouldn't ever stay there again, even if it was free. And I mean that.

Snob for a WEEEEEEK! Snob for a WEEEEEEEEEEEK! :rotfl2:

Imagination can be a very powerful foe!

We own at BLT and would not add on to GF. As others have posted, the Poly would be a different story. Even then though I am not sure it would be necessary to add on again to a monorail resort. We are fairly new member joining last June and then adding on again in February so I think we are set on points for at least a few years until we figure out how what we have is working for us. I think I would be temptemed to add on at an Epcot resort, but wish the contract dates were longer.

I would be interested in adding on at GF IF the points charts are in line with BLT. My biggest fear is that the points to stay at GF will be even higher than BLT and, therefore, not worth it to us.

That said, I personally LOVE the GF and am not one of the snobs refered to earlier. My first stay on WDW property was my honeymoon at GF so it has always been special to me. Maybe this way I can actually get back there for an anniversary. ;)

I love the MK area and would be tempted to add on to any resorts they build there. I do want to say that although the GF has a more formal feel I have never felt that the CM there have been snobbish towards me. The current decor of the rooms are a little much for me personally but maybe they would take a more casual take on the victorian feel if they are indeed building DVC.

While we would love to stay at GF sometime, DVC or otherwise, it just doesn't hold the same appeal for us as BLT. One or two nights in the main building on concierge would be lovely.

We have more than half our points at BLT and would not add-on at GF. BLT's location and views are what got us finally into DVC. If I want a home at another MK area resort, we would likely add on at VWL.

It would depend on the price, incentives, MFs, etc. I think that the GF is attractive because of the perceived notion is only the "wealthy" can afford to stay there. :snooty: I would like to stay there once just to say that I have.
We have adequate points at BLT and we really like it there. IF we ever add more it will probably be at BWV. Still, it will be interesting to see how this all shakes out.

I already have a call in to my guide. She said they haven't told them anything yet and that I'd probably find out before she did. They give them the news right before they start selling.

I own at BLT and VWL. I would never ever in a million years add on at GF! (ok if it was GIVEN to me) It's totally not my scene, I enjoyed the Christmas decorations, found citricos so-so and some of the clientele a bit too entitled.

I'm not a snob and I've stayed there many times. And I have NEVER run into any snobs there either. Just people who like to stay at a nice quiet place. I've been back since I've bought into BLT and have never felt like anyone was looking down on me. Maybe you should try going without a chip on your shoulder.

Could not have said it better myself. I have always maintained that if they ever built dvc at the GF it would get me to stop renting points from others and finally buy in. We were going to bite the bullet last year but now I am paying college tuition for DS. Even with him taking out loans it is expensive. He is transfering in the fall to a 4 year. Hasn't decided where yet. It is between a school that charges 36K a year and one that charges $17K. This will determine if we can do dvc. Guess which one I want.

Probably. But as someone else mentioned, it will depend on the cost, dues, etc. I would actually consider selling my BLT contract to buy at GF -- but again, it depends on the cost, etc.

As for the snob factor, I didn't really see it there either. While parts of the hotel may be a little more "traditional" or "fancy," I didn't encounter any obvious snobbery.
