I have been keeping track with the airfare from MHT to MCO and it had been quite high for awhile. Delta has fares for 205.00 now and I am wondering if I should go for it or wait until Southwest Fares come out. Do you think once SW air's fares are out the other airlines will be more competive?

....afraid to wait too long to buy tickets! I'm thinkin' like you! Its very hard to sit back and wait.....

I bought my ticket back in February when the rate from New Orleans to MCo was $153.00 - I'm glad I did!!!! It's $430 now!!!:goodvibes

That's a good question... A lot of it seems to be a crapshoot. A couple of weeks ago we decided to take our next trip in June. I was debating the same thing. My wife and I got good prices for June of this year when the airlines had a fare sale in March. We landed tickets for around $225. So I was thinking about holding off buying tickets for the family until early next year when, hopefully, June with be in a fare sale window. But I found prices now for June 2004 that are $278. The flight times work great for us, so we decided to take the bird in the hand and bought the tickets.

My wife checked on-line last night and found that the lower priced fares for our flights are apparently sold out and the lowest price is now $390! There are still slightly more expensive fares ($290) available on other flights, but the times weren't as attractive for us. So, for the time being, we did the right thing by buying them now. However, this isn't to say that a fare war will break out between now and June and we could have gotten tickets for less.

Add to this a story I heard on NPR this morning while waiting in the dentist's chair. The story reported that airlines are reporting that ridership is up, and that the deep discount fare wars we've enjoyed in the past couple of years are likely to become less intense and farther between. So my advice is: If the current fare is within your budget and the flight times work for you... then go ahead and book it. The future is too hard to predict as to what'll happen with prices for your flight down the road.

It is hard to decide what to do about that-we watched the rates every single day for months-bound and determined to get the lowest rate. When they dropped to 150/pp/roundtrip from ROC to MCO, we almost bought, but were tight that week..glad we waited....3 days later we nailed 100/pp/rt with a straight through on the way there and only one layover on the way back!! Good Luck and be patient..........:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

As somebody 50-100 miles from you, I think I might hang on until Southwest puts out their fares, since it seems you will need to change planes somewhere anyway. But if the MHT-MCO flight is direct and the times are good, jump on it, esp if you are a Delta fan to begin with.

Come to think of it, $205 out of Manchester seems pretty good; and furthermore, if they Delta has a fare sale later, and there are still seats in your fare class available, you can get them to cut you a voucher for the difference.

Sorry for the mixed message:jester:

I decided to go for it with the Delta tickets and glad I did. The price went back up 45.00 a ticket. I'll just keeping watching the rates and if it goes down I can always use the vouchers in the future. I am sure they won't go to waste. THANKS ALL!
