Would you bring a 13 year old to a Kiss concert?

Have fun! DH took DS11 to an AC/DC concert last month. They both had a blast. ANGUS! ANGUS! ANGUS! ANGUS!

Sex, drugs and rock and roll! my concern would be the tremendous amount of pot that will be smoked at their concerts. I would wait until he is 18 and then let him make his own decision. Trust me they will still be touring and making money, Gene Simmons will make sure of that! Disclaimer= back in the day when I saw KISS there was alot of dope smoking by hard core rockers and stoners. After reading the other posts, it seems that those days are gone and KISS is now family friendly. For that reason alone I would not waste my adult money on a ticket!!Back in the day...the memories!! the brain cells killed, good times had by all.

Just curious how old the members of KISS were when they wrote "Christine Sixteen"....:scared1:

Seriously? Really? I saw KISS a few years ago, and I can't even remember the slightest bit of pot smoke. Half the crowd was over 40 years old, and there were tons of early teens.

I still go to a LOT of concerts, especially classic rock ones, and this isn't the 70's or 80's.... very little pot smoking goes on at these things compared to the old days.

BTW, I do remember the 2 concerts I attended where pot smoking was the absolute worst.... ZZ Top, and the Marshall Tucker Band. I'm pretty sure I was fully stoned by the time I left MTB, and I didn't smoke anything! :)

Really? You won't let your kid go to a concert until they are 18?:confused3

My two 11 year olds saw Aerosmith and Paul McCartney this summer. We all had a great time. Sure, we had a little 'splainin to do, but they got it, and enjoyed being part of the experience.

As a matter of fact, I think the night with Paul McCartney will go down as one of my favorite nights, ever. :lovestruc We've seen him before, but this night was special. Paul himself was in a great mood and sung his heart out. His band was fantastic. We were at Fenway Park in amazing seats with a view of the Boston skyline besides the view of the stage (first during the daytime, then during sunset, and finally at night - beautiful!). The weather was perfect. And seeing my kids singing and dancing and enjoying the music as much as we did was awesome.

We'll definitely be taking them along to any concerts we see from now on. They're into it, too.

My own first concert was when I was 13 and saw Yes at the Boston Garden with my friends, no parents.

18?! OP, DH wanted to take ds11 to see AC/DC this summer, but the floor seats were too expensive (our friends were taking their ds's), and it ended up pouring rain anyway, and it was an outside venue (Giants stadium). Trust me - children will be exposed to pot WAY before the age of 18 (dd13 knows kids who smoke it on a regular basis). I think it's a bonus to let our kids see that stoned people look like idiots! :thumbsup2

Im feel so old, boy, I also saw ZZ Top in the early 80's and boy were we wasted the air was so thick. Oh well, those concerts still live on in my addled brain:) concerts don't really sound that fun anymore!

only because of my fond memories of concerts in Chicago, in the 80's. I brought a whole bag of beer to the Police concert, when security asked me what it was " I replied it is my punk bag!" he said you crazy kids and off to find my seat I went. So yes, based on my behavioiur at concerts, and I did flash my ****s on occasion!! I would not let my child go to a concert until they were of legal age. It does appear that concerts are now more family friendly and a bit corporate, so my decision today would be different.

My husband was going to bring our 8 and 10 year old children-he's a big KISS fan and they love it too.
But the tickets were too pricey to spend on little kids, IMO, so they're not going.
We took them to their first concert last year, they were 6 and 8. Springsteen-they loved it! Just remember earplugs for kids' ears.
I sae Kiss years ago and thought they sucked, Paul's singing nearly made my ears bleed-very high pitched. My husband swears it was the acoustics at Nassau Coliseum.
Anyway, there were a lot of kids there(this was the mid 1990s), and it all seemed fine. I think Kiss attracts people who loved them back in the day and their kids now.

We're like halfway addicted to Gene Simmon's show in this house. If we could afford tix(which we can't. we looked :rotfl:) we'd go and bring a 13yo if we had 1. I think he'll have a great time.

I've never appreciated KISS, but I went to various concerts with my mom through my teen years, and it was great!

I do wish I'd worn earplugs, though, and that goes for the Seattle shows in the 90s as well...this tinnitus I've got is really really crazy-making. :headache:

First off, yes, but just be prepared, Paul Stanley the lead singer is apt to talk about some pretty sexual type things, although he does it kind of as enuendo and makes it kind of funny, they can get pretty R rated in the language, as someone already mentioned.

But the excellent part, and I say this from experience as a kid, is that linking that junk to "I'm sitting here with my MOM" will probably create a better kid than if he were to just be there with buddies.

I saw Billy Idol with my mom, it was a great concert but he was a HUGE jerk, and just foul-mouthed for no good reason, and I was so embarrassed. My mom was a hippie and had heard it all, but still I was embarrassed FOR her, like I wanted to protect her or something. And to this day I still tsk tsk that sort of stuff...we were definitely role-reversed in those ways. :)

I have to agree with you about the Crue.

Ugh, the Crue have always been so nasty. I remember in 9th grade (which means I was 13/14) math class some guys who were fans showing us the fan magazines, and yuck-o-rama they were gross.

Same experience, but with Duran Duran (my first concert). We were in the nosebleed section, I was with my mom and 3 girlfriends, and that stuff rises...we were already giggly, but by the end, gracious.

A bag of beer? Punk bag? I don't even know what those things mean......
