He'll be 3 weeks from his 13th birthday. Do you think that's too young for a Kiss concert? He loves classic rock and live music, so I know he'd love it.

DH and I are probably too old, so that should balance it out, right? :rotfl:

My one experience with a Kiss concert (and no, it doesn't stand for Knights in Satan's Service) was way back when I was about 27. I was working on West 34th Street in New York, and had to pass Madison Square Garden on the way home. One day, I wandered through the crowd waiting to get into the Kiss cencert, and I noticed that I was the tallest person around. It was like a sea of, to use a current analogy, Jonas Brothers fans.

Kiss has always had young followers. Of course, that was 1978. I don't know if it's different now.

He's not too young, go and enjoy it!! :cool1:
He's got good taste in music liking classic rock. :thumbsup2

I have loved Kiss since my teens, but I've never gone to one of their concerts. I also haven't been to ANY concerts in many years, so I just want to be sure it's not to "mature" for a young teen.

Man, I can really tell I'm getting old... :rolleyes1

Not too young at all. Just remember the music is not like what he's used to hearing on a digitally recorded cd/etc. Live music is great! Ear plugs are a must for my kids. I'm taking my 13 yo to a metal show-Pagan's Mind. This will be his 3rd concert/show. Have fun! I guess you should forwarn him about people drinking/smoking/smoking weed etc. At KISS these days you'll probably see older people anyway with a few thrown in that haven't grown up! :)

Sure, why not?

Bring some earplugs along in case it's too loud for him. I actually always wear earplugs at concerts. It prevents that horrible post-concert ear ringing, and cuts out some of the reverb. You can still hear the music perfectly fine.

I sure would. My kids have been to lots of concerts. Kiss, Aerosmith, Motley Crue come to mind where you see parents with their kids.

Have fun! :)

:lmao:

I don't think that's too young. I have been going to concerts since I was 9! DH and I will be taking our 11 year old DD to see U2 in concert next week.(she has already gone to Jonas Bro. & Miley Cyrus concerts) We are taking my 17 year old sister to see Blink 182, Fall Out Boy, and All American Rejects and DD wanted to go too, but I thought that one would be too much for her.

On a side note I loved Kiss when I was a kid! I had the dolls too! I use to run around sticking my tongue out like Gene Simmons!:rotfl:

Go for it! I think I was about 14 when I went to my first Kiss concert. It was great fun.

I would, he'll be with you. use it as a learning experience, there will be boneheads, and point them out as the "way not to act at a concert."

I took my oldest son when he was 12 and my youngest when he was about 7. All of my boys have been to concerts (have 3), but only those two have been to rock concerts. Hubby's work always sponsors a large all-day country music event that we take them to every year. Easily 15,000 people there. It is easier at places like Alpine or Blossom (open air with seating and lawns).

I figure they are going to go to a show eventually, might as well be with me first. Just know your crowd, I think it's key. Do some research on the venue and visit a fan message board to get an idea of what you might be dealing with. Have fun & enjoy yourself. Mine were drooling over the concert for Ahmet Ertgun that happened at the O2 in England a few years back.

I definitely would! I've been taking my DD to concerts since she was 10. This summer she, DH, and I went to an Aerosmith concert and the three of us had a blast! As JessicaR said, there are usually other people with kids too. Have a good time. :rockband:

We are taking my just turned 12 year old son the the Kiss concert in Oct. It was really hard to get the tickets....

Anyway we made him go to the Jonas Brother concert with his sister a few weeks ago so Hubby thought he deserved to go to this. :lmao:

Absolutely! Heck, I went to see KISS when I was 15 with just my friends.... Totally fun show, but there will be some "R" rated language used by the band, if that matters to you.

R rated language, we can handle. violence is another issue. I know there is always a risk, but if it was sort of a common occurence, that is what I would be concerned about.

I would see what you can find out on-line about the content of the show. The only reason I say this is because I recently went to a Motley Crue concert. Porno was flashing on the big screens throughout the concert. While it was flashing really fast so you couldn't really see anything, it was evident that it was porn. While I didn't have an issue with my kids seeing it (they're much older than yours), I don't know if I would have wanted a 13 y.o. to see it (women were bound & gagged - I'm sure you get the idea).

Absolutely I'd take a 13yo to a KISS concert. And I wouldn't be bothered by R-rated language--have you ever heard the kind of language they use in a middle school? Believe me, he's heard it all before.

Heck, if you don't want to take him, would you take me??:dance3:

Well, I must have seen Kiss about 5x.... never saw any violence. Matter of fact, a Kiss show is pretty mild BECAUSE so many parents take kids. Or because there are a lot of people over 40 at the shows.

First off, yes, but just be prepared, Paul Stanley the lead singer is apt to talk about some pretty sexual type things, although he does it kind of as enuendo and makes it kind of funny, they can get pretty R rated in the language, as someone already mentioned.

But their shows are some of the best out there, great theatrics, and Paul is an excellent R&R singer. Very very very loud, definitely wear earplugs
