Would you book 2 rooms in a value or a Family Suite?

We are going to be going to WDW next year. It will be dh, myself, ds9, and ds1 (infant) as well as grandma. We want to give grandma at least some privacy, thus we we not be booking one room at a value even though we technically do qualify for one with the infant. I am in a toss up as to wither or not I want to book 1 family suite vs. two rooms at a value. The price difference will not be that much different, however in the event that grandma does not go we would either cancel one room or downgrade from the suite to a standard room.
Any suggestions on the best way to go about this? I was totally prepared to book a suite today, had FD been announced for next September but now I am just not sure what to do. :surfweb::rotfl::confused3
Also do the suites ever get a discount code or AAA discount? Would I get a better chance at discounts booking two rooms over the suite?

Speaking as a gramma, i say get the 2 rooms. Gramma wants her own space believe me.

You are also more likely to get a heftier discount for the 2 rooms vs the suite.

You often can't get discounts like free dining with the family suites so consider that if it's a factor.

If it were me I'd do 2 rooms. If the idea is to give grandma privacy you're not going to really get that in a family suite.

Thank you so much! We will take this advice coming from a grandma! We booked a one room today at All Stars Music and once I know for sure if grandma is coming too we will book her a room of her own!

Sounds like a no brainer given the information you gave. 2 rooms. I guess the only downside is that you may not get connecting rooms, but you probably will. And if grandma doesn't go, then you can cancel the room, like you said.

I helped a friend plan a trip this summer to WDW. She has a family of 6 so she was looking into the family suite at ASM. I suggested to her two rooms. She and I looked into it and it was cheaper to get two rooms than the family suite. Have fun planning your trip!!!!

Two rooms. :) We've done this many times and it's wonderful having connecting rooms where you can close the connecting door or open it.

I think with the suite, Grandma will wind up sleeping on a sofa bed or chair bed, unless you are willing to give her the bed in the master bedroom. On the other hand you will get a microwave and fridge in the suite that you won't get in the 2 room set-up. So pros and cons with each. I know the new Animations suites will be available next year, but not sure about your dates. I think if free dinning is important, go with 2 rooms.

Lets say free dining does come out and you book the family suite...then grandma decides not to come...you go to downgrade your room and oh no there are no standard rooms left with the promo of free dining...this way if you book two rooms you just cancel 1 and dont lose out on your deal. Plus I would not want to sleep on the sofa bed...not sure how they are at Disney but we just went to Great Wolf Lodge and they were horrible, I was so glad I didnt have to sleep on it and felt totally horrible that DS did...but he didnt see to mind (I think it helped that he only weighs 35 lbs).
