Why won't anyone come out and say VampHeartless? Is there a rule about not stating the name of past DIS members, if he is a past DIS member, I don't know if he is a past or current member? That's an honest question, I really don't know.

Thought I keep this thread running Why not after all Its my first thread to get so many posts

Though I am grateful for those who fought certain wars......I only feel sorry for the ones who had to or have to fight wards like Vietnam/Iraq. I don't share the views many of you pro army/navy/marines people have posted here. Your views of how people can just as easily die right here on American soil are true. I however feel my chances are greater fighting a war then going to 7-11. Someone posted about the closeness of Army wives.......Well I seen the same closeness with firefighter and police officer wives. If your fighting in Iraq now I hope and pray for your safe return. I however do not consider you a hero I actually feel sorry for you. Sorry you decided to join such a stupid ridiculous cause. I am sure that you didn't wake up one morning and say "today I will fight for this country"...Somewhere down the line something happen that caused your views to change and want to do this. Whether it was a family relative who was in the army or the commercials that tell you that you'll be a better person either way. I for one would never shed one drop of blood for this country. I refuse to be selfish and leave my parents behind, my wife, my son and my life to give it away for this country. Before you get all dramatic go check out how they treat veterans.......You think I am going to go fight for a this country? A country that as soon as I am no longer useful to it they sweep me under a rug.....Yeah Right. Thank you for fighting the wars that needed to be fought !!! In my opinion instead of going of to play G.I Joe in the army you should stay home. Home with your loved ones...Home where you can help out by being a Teacher, A Cop, a Firefighter a Nurse or a Neighbor.

Who asked you to? No one is telling you that you have to volunteer. Leave that to the brave young men and women of this great country. As a citizen of the U.S.A., you are free to stay home if that's what you choose. No one is criticizing you for your choice. Why are you so hateful of those who make a different choice? To get this on a "Disney" topic, Walt had a great respect for the military, and that is reflected in the way the parks treat veterans and current members of the military. He served in the ambulance corps in WWI, as he was too young to serve as an infantryman or a Marine (regardless of what urban myths state). We, the members of the Armed Forces of the United States do truly thank those who appreciate us, and we will continue to willingly lay our lives out to provide the freedoms that you enjoy. I may disagree with the OP, but at least I have the conviction, the courage and the integrity to stand for something, not to mention the Honor, Respect, and Devotion to Duty to carry on in the face of adversity.

If you want to take my words as a insult well who am I to stop you. I never insulted anyone but if you want to take it as a insult go for it . I simply said

1) I would never want any child of mine going to go fight and die in a meaningless war

2) I dont believe there is any reason for this current war

3) I wouldnt shed a drop of blood for this country becuase they wont appreciate me for it.

4) there are better things to do then join the army.

I am sure I am not the only one who feels that way. and once again as I have maintained on every post I do appreciate everything Veterans have done for this country. If you choose not to belive well ok your choice

While I don't want any of my kids to end up doing anything dangerous - especially jobs that put them in the line of fire - I can't imagine being anything but proud of a kid who chose to join the military.

I don't encourage or discourage it. Everyone has to find their own path. If they chose that, I'd support it.
