Would you like to hold one? Maybe you already have!

Perhaps you own one as a pet?

Just posting the photo gives me the creeps as I can't stand large house spiders, let alone big hairy biguns like that one!

I think I'll pass on that experience. No desire what so ever!! Yuck!

Definitely NOT! DH had one when we were dating....after we got married I would not let him bring it with us. Wonderful MIL let him keep it at her house as long as he went there to feed it and clean the cage!

just looking at it.......I did have a daddy long legs in the shower with me a few weeks ago......I guess you must know I jumped fast in and out.....and then sprayed it with tub and tile cleaner......that didn't work so I made hubby dispose of the critter.....shaking all over thinking about it......gross

i don't mind spiders but i don't want them in the house or as a pet.

I don't want it anywhere near me! The mere thought gives me the heebie jeebies! I can't stand things with a lot of legs!

I am terrified of little spiders - I would pass out if one of those came near me.

actually I used to have one but I gave it away. I just got bored with him. They are soooo easy to take care of. Probably the pet with the least amount of maintenance. I just made sure the water dispenser was full, put a few crickets in there every week or so and cleaned the cage every few months. I couldnt pick him up though....he was very nasty tempered. And everytime I opened the cage to clean it he would try to escape. I did keep 2 of his skins when he molted though and I have them in containers in my living room. People really flip out when they see them and think they are real spiders. LOL.

We had one for a family pet when I was about 4 or 5. He was so good tempered. His name was Valentino and I used to carry him everywhere. He never once raised a leg at me. (They raise their front legs up when they get mad).

The funny thing is I really don't like common household spiders. They creep me out. But I like the big ones! LOL.

I didn't know that they molted! That must be really weird to see.

They molt about once a year or so. When they get older they don't molt as much. They grow a completely new skin inside the old one. Even new fangs. If they have lost a leg I believe it will grow back....not sure about that though. Anyway....when they are ready to molt they stop eating and they make a bed of web to lay on. I didn't see any of his moltings happen, but my Mom did. She said he looked like a standing rib roast. LOL. I guess the old skin cracks open and he climbs out. It takes quite a while. During the molting process it is very important to not touch them and not put any living food in the cage. The new skin will harden in a few days, but until then they are very vulnerable. I was not home when my spider first molted. My Mom said when he was done he ended up on his back and just laid there for a long time. She was afraid that he would get stuck like that and she used a wooden spoon to flip him back over!!! I about flipped when she told me that. She didn't hurt him thank God. I told her she could have killed him. Sheesh.

Doesn't anyone else here have one? I can't be the only one besides Pixiedust218's DH to have ever had one. They are quite common as pets.

Had one but it died just before my CM daughter left for Japan. I am quite sure when she returns we will have another. Funny but I miss the furry thing.

GROSS GROSS GROSS! No way, no how!

So, can you guess how I voted?

"Absolutely no way!"

Funnily enough, I watched "Eight Legged Freaks" on the plane last December!

They don't bother me.. but again my DH had a snake as a pet when we were dating...

H*** NO!!!!! Oh my gosh! I can't believe that I even started to look at the picture. I didn't even have to let it load all of the way to know my answer. EWWWWWW!
