Would U chg dates to get WL cheaper?

We're booked 9/30-10/9 at POR; however, I've really been thinking that being up in MK area with free dining is the smart place to be. Would you change your dates (and increase your cost by $100/nt) to get the cheaper rates at WL?

BTW, it's 1 adult, 3 children (2 who count as adults on dining plan) and 1 infant (so the free dining is really worth it for us!). We've stayed at CR (thought it was ok, but liked the monorail), AKL (absolutely loved this resort but feel it's too distant when on dining plan) and FW Cabins (again, loved the cabin, but it was so far from everything!).

I would but mainly because I love the WL - it is very convenient to the MK and even the other parks - just a bus ride or you can take the boat to the CR then the monorail to Epcot. Plus with the interior corridors, you are really close to everything you need. We had a room in the North Wing and were able to let the kids go downstairs to Roaring Forks on their own.

We did, we were staying at Coronado (3 adults, 1 teen) and I believe we were paying 2,700 for 9 nights we decided to change to Wilderness Lodge Woods View and it was right at $1,000 dollars more. I think its worth it because we may never be able to afford to stay at WL again!!!!

Atleast I don't feel so alone in this decision or indecision!! I'm going to make it happen, probably a combination of package deal and renting DVC points. I just have my heart set on WL. I want the boat ride to CR, MK, and FW. This trip is for me! The dining can be for my kids! LOL...

Here's what I'm thinking:

9/26-9/29 WL (package)
9/30 stay with ex-MIL in orlando
10/1-10/6 WLV (DVC + dining added on = same price per night as package deal with lodging breakdown per night ($233))

Sound reasonable?

Any one stayed at both the lodge itself and WLV? Would you choose one over the other? We're looking at a studio villa. Again, Thanks!
