Would this work for doing DLR in 5 days?

Hey all!

I am going down to Disneyland for Hallowe’en this October (12-16), and I was hoping I could get some input! I am a WDW veteran, but have only been to DLR once- and my friend is a Disney newbie. I’m hoping my plan looksl ike it will work out: which is literally the bare bones of how to space it all out over five days.

Wednesday- Flight lands at 11:00am; do Hollywood (Walk of Fame only), reach Anaheim/HoJo between 8:00-9:00pm.

Thursday- Disneyland. I haven’t made a concrete plan of exactly what we are doing, in what order. We'll be trying to cover most of the must-do rides, and some character greets.

Friday- Sleep in, go for a swim, do Downtown Disney in the morning. At 4:00, make use of the early entry for the Hallowe’en Party. Then… party

Saturday- California Adventure. Again, no concrete plans except hoping to do rope drop to hit LM, TSMM, etc. And we will be ending with WoC.

Sunday- Make use of the Hopper, switch between the two parks hitting whatever we missed and whatever we want to do again. Leave around 4:00, take the Magical Express back to the airport to catch our 9:00pm flight

*The morning/afternoon I have planned for the Sunday, could easily be done on the Friday morning; I was just worried doing a full day, and full Hallowe’en party will drain us. Any thoughts? I know it’s not very detailed at this point, but I’ll welcome any suggestions or tips!

On the days that I reserved for “Disneyland” and “California Adventure,” I am totally up for park hopping, because I remember from my last trip that it was easier to hop than to stick to one park. I know I couldn't get more vauge if I tried, I just wanted to make sure that the way I spaced out actually makes sense.

Thanks for reading!

Sounds like a lot of fun! One suggestion might be to add a Minnie and Friends Character breakfast to your Disneyland day. Often times you can have breakfast reservations before the park even opens and get really amazing pictures with no one else on main street. Have a great time!

Works for me. DH and I don't do a detailed plan for which rides we're going to do when. We just set priorities, which sounds basically like what you're doing. DLR doesn't take quite as much planning as WDW. Actually, we don't take the commando approach at WDW either. If we cover the priorities, everything else is just gravy.

For whut it's worth, the Disney Express bus in DLR isn't quite the same as the Magical Express in WDW, but you probubbly knew that. The major difference is that the DLR buses aren't freebie, and you can't check in your luggage and get your boarding passes at the hotel. I wonder if DLR will ever offer Magical Express.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't do detailed plans! Sometimes on these boards I feel like a minority. I'm not good at being flexible with a plan, so we don't even bother trying to stick to one :rolleyes1 Like you, we hit our must-dos, and then anything else just makes it better. Plus, I don't do thrill rides which gives us more time to do everything else :)

Eek, I feel like one of those annoying WDW people who calls everything by the wrong name when they get to DLR- my apologies! We're taking public transit into Anaheim, since we'll be coming from Hollywood, but figured it's just easier to do the DE on the way back.

I would do you MM on Thursday, you get one with a 3 day hopper. If you haven't see WoC on that night assuming it plays weekdays in the "offseason".

On Saturday if you find it possible get up early start in DL, go left and do Indy and a few more rides then head to DCA for the 9:30 open.

Also as you realize you can hop and if lines look big or your waiting for FPs to open, you might end up hoping to the other park.
