Would this qualify for Florida resident perks?

Seems like I've read where students attending colleges/Universities in Florida qualify for Florida Resident rates for hotels, park tickets, etc. If that is true, then would a student attending Jacksonville University's ONLINE RN-to-BSN program also qualify? The rep from JU that I spoke to didn't know the answer to that one, but she did say that the online program is exactly the same as their onsite program and the graduates receive exactly the same degree. Anybody know?

I know for FL resident discounts they always ask to see a FL ID. SO if you get a student ID, that might work.

I've never heard of anyone who tried to get away with it and got caught, what happened.

Whats that saying, "Its easier to beg for forgiveness than ask for permission."

Thanks, but I'm really not trying to get away with anything (that'll get ya in BIG trouble on this here board ) I just wondered if anyone knew if this would "legally" qualify a person for the FL resident perks. I'm thinking about attending their program to finish my BSN and just thought it would be a nifty deal if that were true!

Contact Disney, I am sure they can tell if you qualifty.

You would need proof of residency in Floriday. Taking an Internet class wouldn't qualify.

Your program may be the same but you aren't living in Florida.

I am a Florida resident and I can tell you that the ID the resorts require to qualify for discount is my driver's license. They ask to see it every time. If you don't drive you can get a state issued Fl. ID card from DMV -- works like a driver's license for ID purposes. My Mom has one.

Sorry, I don't think attending online classes at a Fl. University will cut it. Even if you attended in person, but lived in another state it would not qualify. You must prove residency.

Actually, having a FL university student ID is listed as qualifing (on http://wdwig.com/florid.htm but I believe it is the same on the Disney website). If you live on campus, but have a home someplace else, you don't need a florida license or ID card. And you won't have a utility bill in your name. You might not even have mail!

If anything, the problem will be actually getting an ID card. Usually they are photo IDs, and you'd need to go there to get one. I've taken classes at my local university & have not needed an ID for anything. If you're not on campus, you don't need an ID.

If you can get an ID, give it a try!

I would "think" that to get a resident ID, you would need to be a resident in some way, of Florida. Military members can keep their Florida residency(Drivers license) when living elsewhere, that is the only exception to "residency" that I know of. We have been asked for our FL Drivers license at resorts, and when purchasing our FL tickets.

I think it's safe to say that if you physically don't reside in Florida for some period of time and have an ID that proves it, you don't qualify. Sorry to sound flip, but that's why it's called a Florida "resident" discount. If you did succeed in getting a school issued ID, they may accept it, but only under the assumption that you were an on-campus student.

I think you're right Geoff - if they see an ID from a Florida college, I'm sure they will just assume the person is in-residence at the school, unless the ID states otherwise.

I've never had a problem using my FL DL, even with an out of state address, but I always have my voter ID and other docs with me just in case.
