Would this Monorail Idea Work?

No problem at all. But keep in mind....yes, you may see a longer line for the Express line, but the time it takes the Express line to get to MK is a lot less vs the Resort line. The Resort monorail takes almost 20 mins to get to MK!!! And that's if there are no issues along the track!!!

Then again, I would never drive to the TTC, even if I have a rental car. That's the one park I always take the bus to.

I think we rode the monorail about 5-6 times during our whole visit and lucky we never had the "hold for traffic" issue. So that was a plus.

I agree with taking the bus. The problem of convincing my wife is another story.. So the TTC wins, I choose my battles wisely. lol Plus my son's favorite ride at Disney was the trams I think. He even bought a Tram toy while visiting.

It's the little things I guess. lol
