Would this be too much to ask prior to check-in on Monday?

We arrive on Monday and DD's birthday is on Tuesday. I made ADR's for CRT for lunch that day and also had arrangements with a fairygodmailer to send a postcard from the Fairy God-Mother inviting DD to eat lunch there on the day of her birthday. Unfortunately, the postcard has not arrived and I'm afraid will show up when we're gone, which will still be lovely, but I was really hoping that DD had it in advance of leaving.

What I was hoping to do instead, as DD does not know about the meal yet (and she's been bugging me about where to eat for her birthday!). I was thinking of calling POFQ today and asking a CM there if they could arrange the same sort of written invitation from the FGM for lunch on her birthday. I don't want nor expect anything beyond the invitation, but would be so appreciative if they could arrange that to have in our room when we get to it Monday afternoon.

If I do call should I speak to the concierge desk? Help!

I'd call POFQ directly and speak with the front desk. If need be ask to speak with the resort manager or his assistant. I actually spoke with her a few years back, don't remember her name or if she is still there. We had an issue because of the AP discount wasn't working with the online process they had started. When we got checked into our room it was decorated by the staff bcause of all the problems we'd had. Course, there was a hurricane due to arrive too. Not sure if they factored into it or not.

If they aren't of any help, print something out and hide it in your carry on. Have DD watch TV while you check in. While you are checking in, get out the invitation and call DD over tell her she has mail. This way you have all your bases covered.

Oh, and have a great time at my favorite resort. Be sure and get the birthday buttons for DD. You might ask POFQ if they can have some for her when you check in.

It so can't hurt to ask. Somebody will help so long as there's not a huge line of folks.

I called and asked a CM about it at the resort. She put me on hold and a few minutes later said that the official policy is they cannot put anything in the rooms prior to check-in. So I'm going to use the above suggestion (thank you!!!) and make up my own and tuck it into the packet we'll get when we arrive. DD will be thrilled no matter what.

My sister was at BCV in December for her birthday and I left a wrapped gift (Disney Stock) at the front desk. I was told the same thing, that it could not be put in her room prior to check-in. But my other two choices were: they could present it to her at the check-in desk, or they would deliver it to her room AFTER check-in. I chose to have it placed in her room while she was out to dinner one night. They also added a Happy Birthday Mickey balloon, and some regular helium balloons for free!!
So you could still have a CM present it to her, just not have it in the room prior to check-in.

That's cute. your DD will be thrilled either way. We are staying there in April so you will have to write a trip report when you get back.

1) Items in room prior ot arrival
. . . not done, except some times when you stay on Club Floor
. . . the room pre-assigned may easily mot be the one you finally get
. . . or the room isn't available to maintenance or not enough maids
. . . pretty embarrassing for someone else to get your gift
2) Alternate
. . . leave at Front Desk for pickup at check-in
. . . baskets and post cards are great items for this option
. . . you can also have the item delivered sometime after check-in

I would have something like that delivered to your room after check-in. Just let them know your daughter's name at the front desk, and the next thing you know, someone shows up at your door with an invitation from Fairy Godmother, asks to speak directly with your daughter and there you go.

How cool would that be? :yay:
