Would this be silly?

What if you booked concierge and did the dining plan? Would that be too much food? I was thinking of eating concierge breakfast then using our counter services and sit downs for lunch and dinner. What so you think. This is at the poly btw.
The reason I ask is since we are at the poly and do not have a food court, I wonder if Captain cook's breakfast offerings make up a substantial meal. We're not that big of breakfast eaters, but do like something to get us going. I would also hate to use several of my sit downs on breakfast. Does this make sense?

Having concierge is not the same thing as having access to a full meal. I don't think it would be silly at all.

In Feb We stayed at the WL conc. level, and did the gold plan (which has food plan). We used the conc food for snack if we had late ps for breakfast--or dinner. We also enjoyed the night time wine/cheese. It was worth it for us we enjoyed the pampering. However it was only DH and I.... Dstepson stayed with grandma. If we brought him, we prob would have also done it this way too.

Not silly at all. Concierge food offerings do not replace meals.

If it is silly, then I am going to join the club. I have reservations at the Contemporary Tower Club for Nov. using the new Disney package including the Dining option. It was somewhat surprising to discover this was actually less expensive for us than our Dreammaker package (without dining) was in 2004. We plan to have a light breakfast, then do a counter-service lunch and sit-down dinner. The snack is a nice option in the parks, too.

We're doing concierge (AKL) and the food plan. I figure we'll use the lounge for a quick breakfast (none of us are big on breakfast) and save our plan for the parks. As it is (if CL is doing their job this week getting my PS ;) ) we'll have 3 character meals and then Boma and Rose and Crown. I'm sure counter service and snacks will be no trouble at all for us even if we end up taking them back to the room for a late night snack.

I don't think it is silly at all. The concierge food offerings are not meant to be a full meal. Although I am sure some people consider it that way.

I agree, not at all. We took full advantage of the nightly appetizers each night. And, we still had dinner.

I think staying concierge and having the dining plan is the best match of all. We've stayed at the Polynesian concierge the past several years. The breakfast offerings are plentiful ... cereals, coffee, danish, bagels, fruit, juice, etc. Definitely enough to hold you over until lunch (unless you are a big breakfast eater).

Captain Cooks is considered a 'counter service' meal on the dining plan and therefore would be great for lunch. They have wonderful sandwiches, salads, etc. And, then, there's the one sit down meal on the dining plan that you can use anywhere you like.

Like everyone else has said, the evening offerings in the lounge are nice ... but definitely not a replacement for a dinner. There have been occassions where we ate a large late lunch and then just munched on the offerings in the lounge for dinner and later had a nice dessert.

I'm really looking forward to using the dining plan and being able to have more freedom to order what I like from the menu.

Hi Lori,

I certainly understand not wanting to use your sit-down meals at breakfast. However, if the main reason you are getting the Concierge level is for the breakfast offerings, I don't think it is a smart move. Captain Cook's breakfast menu looks filling enough for me:

I would compare the cost increase of upgrading to Concierge (I have no idea what that $ amount is) against the cost of buying breakfast with cash. Then again, it would vary on the amount of people in your party... But if you want Concierge for the whole "experience", and the help with PSs, etc, then it might be worth the extra $s to you...

Just my 2 cents....

Have a WONDERFUL trip!!!

Betty

If I upgrade to GV concierge the price difference is minimal, since I'm currently booked LV. If I upgrade to LV concierge (which is what I want) the price goes up $700. I don't know if concierge is worth that. What do you think?
