Would this be considered rude, or acceptable?

Just a side note as a reminder- please don't judge by age alone. There ARE some 6-8yr olds that might have a medical condition that makes them have the inability to "hold it" very long at all... even if they've gone frequently.

::yes::

Yes, and even without a medical condition, sometimes the need presents itself really quickly, especially if you're drinking the recommended amount of water.

Just today, I drank a nice tall glass of lemonade at lunch (we had been at the park in the heat), went to the bathroom afterwards, then went to my daughter's soccer game, which I promptly had to leave after about 15 minutes because I had to go again. It's not that I didn't plan. Well, not unless depriving myself of liquids I'm thirsty for is considered a "plan" :worried:.

Anyway, I think it's ridiculous for anyone to attempt to judge whether a stranger's need to go to the bathroom is "acceptable" or not. :rolleyes2:

When you gotta go, you gotta go. As long as it's one adult who takes the child and not half the family, I don't see the problem. Hopefully you can time it so you get back to your group before it's admitted.

I've been with groups that had one adult slip out to go to the loo and then come back, nobody has ever had a problem with that. On certain rides it might be difficult, like the indoor ones or the meandering line ones such as Splash Mountain, but a kid that young isn't going on Splash Mountain anyway.

Bring a pack of post-it notes with you. Put one over the electric eye before your child gets onto the toilet. When they are done, the post-it note is easy to remove and throw away.QUOTE]

The auto flush toilets were a HUGE problem our first trip for our then 2 1/2 yr old. She got to the point where she wouldn't go except in our hotel room. I was really scared she'd get sick. Even now at almost 5 she always asks if the toilet is like Disney's when going to a new bathroom because they scared her so much.

If the post it note trick doesn't work for your son, go to the Baby Care Centers. They have small toddler size toilets that don't auto flush.

I didn't read all of the replies, so don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but what we did with DS on our trip last spring was this: He wore his underwear and then wore pull-ups over the underwear. I took extra underwear, pull-ups and pants with us just in case. It worked well -- DS only had one accident at the parks.

We had a bigger problem with night-time accidents during our vacation. Our schedule was off enough that DS was often having food/drinks later than at home and had a few night-time accidents. Even now, DS wears plastic pants at night and I monitor his snacks/drinks after dinner.

I am 43....my DM is going to 65....we both have irritible bowel syndrome....sometimes even adults don't have a choice!

I think I would tell the people directly behind me in line what I was doing...and apologize to those I disturb in line.

As for not speaking English....don't try that with me....you might hear something you don't want to in one of 4 languages (just kidding...well...kinda) :)

i wouldn't think it would be a terrible thing, but you gotta remember that not all people are nice and they probably just want to get on the ride and forget about everyone else. i agree with the person who said get some pull-ups for him. definatly take him to the restroom inbetween rides, but have pull-ups as a just incase for things like rides and waiting in lines, and even if he isn't able to make it to the bathroom because let's face it, the women's restroom is constantly busy. is there a male going with you? try and get them to go together, your son and the male that's on the trip with you. it'll probably be easier and faster anyway.
