They will need to be able to access the number to do the add on. I do not know whether they'd have access before you would be I wouldn't be surprised if they did. Once DVC has your info, but before your account is set up or the points there, call sales and tell them what you want. I suspect they'll have to wait until you're in the system but not until your resale points are loaded. Let us know what you find out.
I wonder if they would expedite the resale closing in order to accommodate the direct sale...
I wondered that also but I'm skeptical. Ultimately I suspect they have a first in first out policy but there's no reason they couldn't do so. Then again, 25 retail isn't much of an incentive is it?
The DVC guides can get that info for you. I'm not sure if technically if it speeds things up a little but I suspect it can at times. When we were looking to originally purchase BWV in late 2014 we went on the direct waiting list as well as were watching resales (we wanted the contract for a fall 2015 trip). We found a resale long before Disney found us a small contract with the UY we requested. When the points finally became available at the end of Jan 2015 we were days away from closing on our resale. We told the guide that but that we still were interested in 25 more points direct (long before that became the thing to do in April 2016 lol). He could not sell the 25 points to us until we were in the system since it could not be a master contract but that they would hold the points temporarily until we were able to purchase them. He was the one who obtained our membership number and called us as soon as we were in the system to sell us the add on. That happened 9 days after closing which is pretty quick.
Especially if it's for a sold-out resort vs. Poly or CCV.
