would these be good jackets for a dec trip?

Its hard to say for several reasons:
First, it may actually be quite warm in December and they would be too heavy.
Second, it might be really cold in December and they might not be warm enough.
Third, it also kind of depends on your tolerance to cool temperatures, which is often dependent on where you live.

We've experienced temperatures in December going from short/t-shirt weather one day to winter coat temperatures two days later. The best suggestion is to pack layers so that you can use some combination (or all) to be comfortable no matter what the weather turns out to be.

Not sure if those will be best but I can give you our experience with early December weather at WDW.

We have gone the first 2-3 weeks of December for the past 3 years in a row and last year temps were all over the place. That first week it never got much warmer than 70 during the day and we had a couple of evenings in the 40s and below.

It warmed up the 2nd-3rd weeks to more of what we're used to.... 70-80 during the day and evenings in the 50-60s.

visiting the first week of dec. wanted to get the kids matching jackets- making them easier to spot. Would these be warm enough for a dec eve?

Hi there!

I haven't been in December, but I went the first two weeks of February this year, while Orlando was experiencing record lows (Frost! At Disney! :sad2:).

We took layers, and I was SO HAPPY I'd brought extra fleece and gloves and hats. We used them all.

I would highly recommend layers --- I brought long underwear, which goes easily under t-shirts, long sleeved tshirts, an LL Bean button up fleece cardigan, a thin fleece zip up, my Land's End fleece anorak, thin knit gloves and knit ski caps. I ended up wearing my anorak and the rest of the heavier stuff got farmed out to my crew who were not as well prepared. :rolleyes1

I just wore regular cotton pants on the bottom, and was fine --- but then, I will wear capris and sandals as long as it's warmer than 55 degrees.

I am betting those jackets would work fine - especially if you had layers to go underneath... my only concern would be if they are heavy and bulky, then you have to lug them for the majority of the day. Anything that is fleece/microfleece will pack down tighter than cotton jersey AND if it happens to get wet, fleece/microfleece will dry much more quickly than anything with cotton.

i will be taking long underwear shirts for the girls. i figured jeans will also be fine. Thats a good point about microfleece packing down smaller and staying drier. I will look into that-
Here is one rated 20-40 degrees:

That's exactly what my fleece anorak is made out of --- it's the most useful jacket I own by far. And. Machine washable - you just can't beat that.

Mine is a big old anorak, but it weighs nothing and packs pretty tightly. It's not super thin --- and it cuts the wind pretty well.

maybe....we went in dec (second week) a couple years ago and it was so cold at night that my legs were freezing. i'd say taking layers is a really good idea. we wore light long sleeve shirts during the day and cotton hoodies at night. the cotton is nice cause it can breathe so you don't get too hot.
