We're due to travel on the 14th February and will still take our trip as we're DVC members.

That said, as I'm self employed my income has dropped significantly and combined with the weak exchange rate, for the first time I'm going to be cost conscious on this trip.

If I hadn't pre-booked I would have probably given this trip a miss.

We are not going to cancel. We lost a 2 week holiday to WDW when tcd went bust. I have $4000 on my fairfx cards at $2/£ so that's this years and next years spending money sorted. I paid for my cruise at $1.89/£ so that's done. The money I get back from ATOL will pay for next years holiday so even if I do lose my job I will still have my holidays.

My April trip is all paid for - got very good flights prices compared to last year and the hotel was very good price too, I have an AP so have just had to buy tickets for DD.

We go in October and we are using points so just flights to pay for, I have rented my developer points out so the exchange rate went in my favour there and I got a bit more £ to go towards our flights for October.

Both, just ended 2 year fixed mortgage deal and increased gas and elec, was paying £100/month, they wanted to increase to £200, I agreed to £150, hopefully that will still be too much if they reduce prices.

Wouldn't cancel but we definitely will be eating more counter service meals this year - last year we had the free dining plan so will be a shock paying for food anyhow.

Wouldn't cancel unless something happens to our jobs and we were desperate for the money - but this trip is a different story.

We are tied into our wedding with Disney now (which we have the money for) but we have definitely changed plans. We are not stopping at the CBR anymore and my parents are paying for 10 days in a villa for us as a wedding present so that has been a huge help.

We are getting AP's with the wedding package and I bought Disney tickets last year when it was $1.8ish/£1 for my parents.

We will still go to SW and US/IOA (haven't got tickets yet) as we love the places and it is our honeymoon, but we will be cutting down on spending in general.

We would have eaten at TS restaurants a lot of the nights at Disney but won't be doing that now.

We also decided that we weren't paying for two wedding day meals, just one, and that has saved us around $1000 so we have saved by changing our plans.

We have also been landed with an unexpected £500 month debt which we have to pay so the spending money will be greatly reduced. As we have been before we're more interested in soaking up the Christmas atmoshpere than spending all our money - good job really!

We have got our August flights booked. Will be watching rates closely to pick the best time to book and pay for accommodation etc. If we get $1.50 we will feel we have done ok. It hasn't made us want to cancel but the enthusiasm to book any more holidays just isn't there at the minute

We would not cancel. But I'm glad our holiday is already paid in full for flights and accomodation.

Have to say that if I was already booked then no I wouldn't cancel but I wouldn't think about going if I hadn't.Ok the holiday price hasn't changed but the actual costs once you are there will make a big difference,even if you are on Free Dining there are still added costs.We in most cases had a starter & tips at 18%-20% all add up over the course of the holiday.
As I've mentioned on other posts we are in the process of buying a DVC resale & had to have the discussion last night on how low the rate would have to go for us to cut our losses & forfeit our deposit.As much as it would break my heart to pull out & lose that money we can't realistically keep finding extra money to make up the weakness in the pound-already the resale is £1500 dearer than it was 2 weeks ago!

Shooby Doo - be careful if you're considering buying a DVC resale right now. I bought into DVC at $1.38 to the pound and wound up having to sell at almost $2 to the pound. You can lose a whole bunch of money if the exchange rate changes drastically. And I never thought I'd need to sell but I did.

Also, if you sell, they automatically deduct 10% in taxes, regardless of whether you've made any profit and claiming it back is a right polava.

Not sure about cancelling but the exchange rate has definately put us off trips to Disneyland Paris. If you include the spending money even just for food and drink for a few days is extremely high and for us not justified.

Last year we used our DVC points for a trip to Disneyland Paris in July which worked out a lot cheaper than the actual price. However we have to pay for length of stay passes in $s. I got them priced up yesterday and the price was just not worth it.

We squeezed in a cheapie trip over Xmas, flying with Delta via Atlanta and getting a 12 night stay at Best Western Lakeside. We bough the 5 park multi ticket for a good deal and used odd days left on Disney cards for 3 days in Disney, some of our cards dated back to 1996 and all but one card was pre biometric data. Disney are happy to allow our young adult kids in on tickets that were originally bought when they were children.

For food we filled up at Ponderosa on 192 mile marker 5 for $25 all you can eat including drinks and tip for a family of 4 adults. Great service and reasonable food but terrific value. This would see us all the way through until we grabbed a counter service meal in the parks in the evening.

We did eat at a great Japanese place near mile marker 10 192 for $10 per head including buffet. This was from the special deal board and included the chef cooking in front of us. Best value night in town by a long way.

We have already booked to go back in 09 , flights with Thompson and hotel with Disney.....and we got the DDP gratis.

America is still good value if you either get the DDP deal or do it the other way and go as cheap as possible. I would never consider Paris, and certainly not at Euro to Sterling parity. Having said that, we wouldnt consider Paris at 2 to one either.

exactly the same as me, i earn in us dollars, so having suffered for years with the strength of the pound, i have finally got a 30% pay rise (and rising) i feel i am the only person happy at the weakness of the pound.

very good news for us too as we're paid in the $ and put 60% into our UK account for savings.

Only problem is being careful what to pay out of which account - pay the US fees in cash when we go, and prebooked UK fees (like the car hire, park tickets, etc) out the UK account so we dont have to exchange back again.

Luckily we can take all our spending money in cash that we've earnt in $ so no conversion from the pound.

I agree Susan.. Me and Steve did a really cheap DLP trip in 2006, then in 2007 me and my sister went for her birthday and it was a bit more pricey but still much cheaper than WDW, but with the current exchange rate I think it's really expensive when you factor in spending money. We were planning a short trip somewhere in Europe this year but with the Euro as it is now i'm not so sure, if we pick anywhere abroad it'll be Poland (no Euro ) but more than likely we'll just go somewhere in the UK
