Hello! As a moderator of the true Disneymooner forum, I wanted to try and answer some questions for you guys.

1. disneymooner.com is the original and true Disneymooner address. Someone who is not associated with us at Disneymooner.com is creating a group at disneymoonerS.com and also mousemooners.com. Please know that these are not part of our forum and have nothing to do with us.

2. The reason we ask that all applicants complete a questionaire is to protect not only yourself, but also those on our forum. It is not a public forum, and all membership requests are reviewed by the administrators and moderators of the board.

3. We only approve those who are actively planning a wedding at Walt Disney World or Disneyland. By actively planning, it means that you have called WDW or DL and have been assigned someone to help you. If you have not chosen locations, but have spoken to a WP, please apply and put that on your application. We are not trying to be difficult, but we have 400 members, all of whom are planning or have planned a Disney FTW, and the primary purpose of the board is to help with those plans.

4. If you do not get a response after applying, keep in mind that we all have jobs and families (all mods are past Disney brides) and occasionally it may take time for your app to be reviwed and approved. Also, e-mail gets lost in Spam boxes and filters, so your application or our response may have gone to the great e-mail circular file. Please re-email us. We don't bite and really do want to help you get to the board.

If there are any questions, you can feel free to PM myself any time and I will try and help you as much as possible.

I do have one question though....if you are catering to people planning their FTWs, then why is it called disneymooner.com? Shouldn't you open it up to people who are not getting married at disney, but who are planning on "disneymooning" there?

The group name "Disneymooner" has been around for a very long time, over 6 years actually, and originally the group was for those planning weddings and honeymoons, but we had such little information and next to no posts about honeymoons and we had so few members who were planning honeymoons that it was decided to focus solely on wedding planning.

There is far more information here on the Dis about honeymoon planning then we ever had, so those who apply planning honeymoons are directed over to this forum, and provided links to other sources of information.

Sorry, but I for one would not be interested. I am planning a Disney Honeymoon, and considering having my wedding there too. But, there is enough involved in planning a wedding without filling details out to join a private forum. Also, why on earth call it Disneymooners if it is for those having a wedding there only? And if it is a private forum, why on earth aren't you messaging your private members over there. If we aren't allowed to join, surely we don't need to know!

Hi Cinderella,
Perhaps you missed my post concerning the confusion about as to why the Disneymooner group is a private group. Here is my post again (see below), perhaps it'll clear up any confusion you or anyone else has. :)
And like Kristen said, the Disneymooner name has been used by the Disneymooner group for quite some time. I know on Andrea's site it says the group has been around since 1999. I imagine once you start with a name it just sticks even thou the group has involved into something else. Many companies out there become known as something and then evolve into something else but keep their name because it's what you're know as...I imagine this is how it is with the Disneymooner group. My parents being an example, they own a glass company they bought off of an individual and it was know as the individual's last name...ex. Smith's. My parents never changed it because it would take too much work and the company was known as that. Make sense?
Heres the post I was referring too.

I am a member of the Disneymooner's board. I am very familiar with the way the moderators run their Disneymooners board so I felt I should try to clear up any confusion
The Disneymooners board and DIS boards can not be compared to one another, simply put. The Disneymooners board is designed for those couples working with Sales Managers and Event Managers at Fairy Tale Weddings. It is a community where couples can share their ideas, thoughts and such for their wedding much like this board. However, the Disneymooners takes things a little farther as many of you are aware.
They are very strict about who can join to ensure that vendors and Disney Fairy Tale Wedding staff are not joining the board and reading the messages. I know when I joined they required me to give the name of the individual who I was working with at Disney so they could verify I was indeed who I said I was. It is not a public board like the DIS where anyone can read your messages. The purposely do this so they can have fair, good and bad reviews of vendors, cast members and so on. Image posting your less then glowing review of a vendor you used on a public board where they can read it? Imagine the fall-out that could happen especially if it is a photo or video vendor where you don’t get the finished product immediately after the wedding? Yes, you should wait until you have the final product before posting a review, but if they vendor was a nightmare on your wedding day wouldn’t you want to warn others?
They also limit who can join because many members post their budgets word for word. It is so helpful to see complete budgets from other couples. I know I didn’t want to post my budget on a public board because, to be quite frank, I don’t know who is going to have access to that information. I posted on another group that I was getting married at Disney and how much I was paying for something and I was flamed because many felt it was crazy to get married at Disney and I was paying too much for things that will be in my wedding. (This totally burned me and I no longer post to public boards hence why I normally lurk here and this is my first post here.) I do post my budget on the Disneymooners because I want to help others planning a Disney wedding and I know it won’t be read and scrutinized by the whole world.
This is a brief summary as to why you have to “jump thru hoops to join” and why when you belong to a public board like the DIS you may think “WTH??” when joining the Disneymooners. Personally, I find it only fair and creates tightness within the group. But I can see how it can annoy applications especially when you have “unlimited” access to other Disney couples here at the DIS.
As for the Disneymooners comment that it is not as active, I disagree. The board has what they call Planning Journals. This is where a good chuck of the action takes place. It may look like there is not much action that day but a Planning Journal can have a dozen replies in it. I know when I sign in at night I have several pages of posts to catch up on. You have to play around to really appreciate the board. If you don’t know how to “work” the board it can seem not as active.
The Disneymooners has been around since the late 90s (?) and from what I know they’ve always ran their board in this manner. Like I’ve pointed out they do/run their board in a different manner then the moderators here at the DIS do for good reasons. Why should they open up their board to everyone when the DIS already does that? Why create a duplicate DIS Wedding board?
The DIS fits with some people and serves one purpose and the Disneymooners fits with others and serves a different purpose- it’s all in what you’re looking for in a discussion board. Some love it here; others love it at the Disneymooners. It’s all in what you “prefer”.
And as for people not being able to join- I know some members were sent replies to their applications but the replies go into their spam folders or are not delivered to the applicant correctly. In fact, they have an email address you can email to inquire into it. I think it says on your application if you don’t hear from them within so many days to email them. Did any of you do that didn’t hear back from them? Don’t be shy!! The moderators are super nice. If you want to join don’t just shrug it off- things can happen! Just ask.
Enough rambling- Hopefully this clears up any confusion.
I wish you all the best in your wedding planning. I hope you all find the resources you need to plan your “Once in a Lifetime” events.

I'm sorry if I gave the impression I was soliciting for members to join. That was not the purpose of my post. I was trying to clear up some mis-conceptions about the group, as well as to clarify where to find the true Dismeymoon forum for those interested.

Clearly people feel left out by not meeting the requirements we have for our forum, and I'm sorry if you do. We attempt to provide the best we can for for those planning FTW events. To do that, we limit the forum to those who are doing so.

Best of luck to those planning honeymoons or Disney-themed events at other locations, there are wonderful ideas here on the Dis that will help you make you dreams come true.

Kismetdreams Thank you for the information you provided in this thread and in the other thread I started. I was one actually that went to the wrong site(dineymooners) and tried to sign up by giving me email address ( I can't stop getting all these emails now lol) Your info was very helpful for me at least. I totally understand the difference now between a public forum and a private one. I started the thread "why is it so difficult to join disneymooner's" because then I didn't understand the need for the application etc. Thanks for clearing everything up for those of us that did need the info :goodvibes :goodvibes -Melissa

I see now why it is a private board - keeps out spammers and disney spies etc. Thanks for the clarification. And I can see the problem with this new site. It's so annoying when you mistype the name of a site, only to come up with a spammy alternative that has nothing but links. I suppose all you can do is see when their domain registration expires, and try to purchase the mis-spelling yourself.

Well, if I decide to get married in Disney, I will make sure I join the right one. Thank you.
