Would really appreciate some advice from the locals

We are planning on taking a trip to the kennedy space center and were thinking that while we're on the coast it would be nice to take our swim gear and spend an hour or two on the beach.
Are there any nice clean public beaches close to the kennedy space center that anyone would recommend?
What about cocoa beach ? Is it far away ? Is it busy and would it be difficult to park? We don't want to end up anywhere that will have very heavy traffic *** it can be a little bit daunting when you're driving on what will be the wrong side of the road for us. Irish driver coming through

Cocoa Beach is a very good choice and it is not far away either. I would guess 7-8 miles, or less. A good spot would be Lori Wilson Park: http://www.beachhunter.net/cocoa-beach/lori-wilson-park.htm Traffic might be heavy on the weekends, so a weekday would be preferable in several ways.

Good call. I haven't been there in years, but I remember it being very close to KSC and also very clean and fun.
