i understand that it goes against nascar trad to freeze the field, but the precedent is set by the open wheelers, who haven't allowed racing after caution flags, and i wish that there was a way to finish races like this one green, it was some of the most enjoyable racing i've seen in sometime, but i understand that it could not be red flagged. maybe inside of five laps to go they should let them go all out to the line to finish the lap they are on and end the race there.

as to jeff winning the race, i'm glad it was a bowtie in the circle, what a weekend for the chevynation. but all you 24 haters out there, just remember that with a little better luck, he could be sitting on a three race win streak. i don't have a problem with the decisions in either race.

I'm another fan who's not so sure Jr. would have won if the race restarted. Remember he wasn't good on the restart and Harvick was having an awesome day. Harvick pushed Gordon to the lead before the caution came. I see no reason to be hatin on Gordon he won fair and square it was NASCAR's call. If the caution hadn't come out at all Stewart had 4 fresh tires and may have also been a factor. That's the thing, what if's will drive ya mad. Onto Cali.

Ok I am just getting into NASCAR, but my DBF loves NASCAR and we missed the race due to club level baseball tickets (My cousin was throwing the first pitch). This track was my DBF favorite track and it sounds like he missed a good race. Did anyone tape this race by chance, that I could borrow? Thanks.

Pooh_Friend1 - I didn't tape it but I do know that the Speed Channel shows the full race on Thursday's at 3PM Eastern Time. If you have the Speed Channel you can tape it then for him. If you don't have the Speed channel maybe you can find a friend who does.

You would think the under five laps caution finish would vary depending on the size of the track. Four laps at Dega are a huge difference than 4 laps at Bristol. You don't see other sports that finish a competion the way Nascar ended this race. Can you see a basketball game ending with no baskets adding to the score because too many fouls were called in the game and it might be dangerous to the players to finish? Over 140,000 fans didnt pay mega money to spend a day at a track to see such a disappointing finish. Regardless of who may have won Nascar will have to rethink these races finishing under caution. If fuel was a problem they could have frozen the field and let everyone pit and then lined them up for a 5 lap shoot out. They've mandated pit stops at the beginning of races when no cautions have come out.....why not at the end of a race? Obviously the fans have spoken.......even if the drivers can't speak their minds for fear they'll be penalized points and money. Sad when a person's freedom of speech is taken away from them. There was no way Jr, Harvick or Jimmy Johnson were going to tell the press exactly how they felt about the finish.

The number of laps remaining, for which a Red Flag would be waved, varied dependent on the facility. 'dega's cutoff just happened to be 5 laps.

I felt the same way - about both teams being equal and that the results would have been closer. I also thought the twist would be both teams winning their "Home Free".

I felt sorry for the yellow team after the winner was announced. I expected Paige to talk to them while on-air. All the hoop-la surrounded Jon and Stacie, not that they didn't deserve it, but Angel and Vilma were left pretty much alone in the crowd.

Gette: Nobody knows who would have won the race. The fact is that Jr was right beside Jeff and there very likely would have been a shootout at the flag, with Jr. and Jeff edging each other constantly till the checker flag waived. I can live with 2nd place. I am trying to live with the finish under caution, but it aint easy.

Dh and i talked about it tonight when i showed him the sports page and he's more mad now than he was Sunday. And his driver is retired.

Trust me, I would of loved to see the race restarted. I think Jr., Gordon, Johnson, Harvick and R. Gordon would have put on a great show and your right we don't know who would have won. The problem is they won't red flag the race under 5 laps. They say it's not safe so we have to live with it. Besides by 2 to go the track had trash on it. We all know Jr. had the car to beat and it stinks that he and the others had to finish in a frozen ( and litered) field. Hopefully NASCAR will have better luck in Cali.
