Would meat eaters be content with a meatless lunch?

1. I am a meat-eater.
2. A Die-hard meat-eater.
3. I would really enjoy your lunch as it is as it has beans in it.

It isn't so much the meat, it is the need for protein for me. I would love to be invited over!

I would NEVER expect any of my plant-based eatin' friends to serve meat and it would not even cross my mind to think, "Gah, she's NOT serving meat!"

:rotfl2: You are right.

If someone said they were having a taco bar and only serving Beef, someone would chime in with "but what about people who only eat chicken?"

If it were me, I would serve some meat with it as well. I think it would be appreciated by some.

If they are an ethical vegetarian it goes against all their principles. I would just serve what you were planning. If they want meat they hit taco bell on the way home.

Im a meat eater and I would have absolutely NO issue with your lunch. First, when Im invited to lunch, Im grateful for anything and second, your menu sounds yummy!

My SIL is a vegetarian for ethical reasons. She always cooks meat for company. She cooked a delicious turkey and ham dinner for Easter! No, not every vegetarian feels that way.

I'd be fine with it, especially since you are providing cheese. I'd be more disappointed if you had meat but no cheese :teeth:. I'd be thinking to myself, "I wish we'd volunteered to bring the grated cheddar." I always think the same thing when we go to a cookout and there's no cheese for the burgers.

We have some friends who make a really good vegetarian enchilada dish with so much stuff in them that it's hard to tell that there's no meat in it. It's delicious, and I need to get that recipe from them. It may have cheese in it; I can't remember.

Please share when you get it! I love enchiladas!!!!!! :hyper:

I'm a confirmed meat-eater but we often have vegetarian tacos. In fact, I almost prefer them without meat. Everyone will be just fine.

I would be fine with it...it sounds really good to me. My DH and Kids would like it too....but I know some folks who would not be very thrilled with it (like our folks...but they also wouldn't be too thrilled with any Mexican meal, even with meat).

My DH doesn't eat beans or most vegetables, so it would be a lunch of chips & salsa for him.

If we're going to one of our vegetarian friends houses, we know we are eating meatless.

Your menu sounds great. Tons of options to please everybody.

As a guest in someone's home, I am grateful and appreciative to whatever is served.

I have some company coming for lunch. We are plant based eaters and they aren't.

I plan on making Mexican. There will be DIY tacos, burritos, and nachos. I bought cheese and sour cream for them. I will have Spanish rice, black beans, roasted corn, olives, lettuce, guacamole, sauteed mushrooms, onions, and peppers, homemade chunky tomato salsa plus jarred salsa. In addition, I will have Gazpacho soup and either chili or another Mexican soup.

So if you are a meat eater, are you going to be really disappointed if you have Mexican without meat or will you be content for the one meal? As a plant based eater, I couldn't have "just one meal" with meat so I don't want to assume they would be fine with a meatless meal. If I ask, they will say "whatever" because nobody ever wants to tell the host the truth in situations like this. While I wouldn't be thrilled cooking ground beef, I'd do it if most felt it would be a disappointing meal without it.

Sounds delicious!!

I'd be fine with that. I actually like meatless meals every now and then. I would not want a meat substitute though. :)

Or, would I not be invited since I am a woman tennis player? Are any of your guests female and cute? Bad hair is OK, I can fix that. ;)

I am a meat eater and eat SEVERAL meals a week with no meat in them- I would venture out to say LOTS of meat eaters eat plenty of meals without any actual meat in them! Besides, you are nice enough to invite them over, I am sure they will be happy with anything they are served. And if not, they can grab Burger King later lol. The meal you have planned sounds delicious by the way!

:rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao:

One actually does play tennis! :scared1: But DH will be home so does that even things out or do you think I will still have impure thoughts?

Yes, I'm a meat eater and I would totally be offended if you didn't serve me meat, because as a meat eater I need meat with every single meal. Meat wrapped in a meaty meat wrap! Mmm, meat! :rotfl:

Just kidding. Seriously though, your meal sounds delicious and I can't imagine anyone getting offended over having to partake in one meatless meal. Being a meat eater isn't the same as being a vegetarian. We don't need to eat it all the time, and if someone can't deal with that, well then I don't know what to say. Enjoy your yummy lunch. Wish I was invited. :)

I think he should keep his eye on you!! :rotfl2: Better be clear in the invitation: NO cute little tennis skirts. :hippie:

I think it would depend on your friends and their attitudes.

I have seen some pretty picky people on threads here, mainly vegetarians (not the OP at all) who will make snide comments on a prospective menu like "well, all I would be able to eat would be the salad" and then rant that hosts/hostesses never take their needs into account. There are equally rude and entitled meat eaters around that would gripe if they didn't get their meat.

Since they are your friends, they probably aren't the rude sort. However, if you think they may be insulted without their meat, then I would make a little pan of meat sauce.

But, I don't see it necessary as your menu sounds very filling and satisfying.
