Would LOVE your opinion...

We are a family of 5 returning to the Boardwalk Inn after a 4 year hiatus due to 2 sons attending college at the same time......didn't think that one through...anyway...would like to know your thoughts and opinions on this idea.

Since we will be staying concierge and have access to all kinds of goodies and stay at the Inn specifically because of the area and the great folks at the lounge...I was thinking of only booking reservations at restaurants within walking distance. We will have 8 nights to do dinner - one being Thanksgiving at the Cape May Clambake.

Restaurants we love...

1. Shula's
2. Il Mulino
3. Yachtsman
4. Brown Derby
5. Flying Fish Cafe

I have 2 more slots to fill and was hoping for your advice.
We will have our car...but...kids are old enough to drink...and...having a designated driver on vacation may not be fair . No one will be drunk per se but..both parental units in this family are judges so....no driving...ever... after an alcoholic beverage.

That being said...walking may include a stroll through EPCOT to the monorail and points unknown (not first choice..but..convince me).

that comes to mind is Blue Zoo at the Dolphin. Great ingredients, well prepared. It seems to fit your criteria.

Another option is to walk to DHS or take the boat and travel by bus to a resort restaurant like Citricos, Jiko or Artist Point. No worry about driving after a glass of wine and isn't really that inconvenient for one night.

OP, you've made some good choices. We ate at Blue Zoo for the first time in December, and I would also recommend that. Like the PP, we are also fans of Citricos and Artist Point.

I wouldn't bother with the whole walking through EPCOT to get to another place thing. Just get a cab! In addition to the safety factor, you're more likely to have more control over your timing.

Within walking distance I would add bluezoo (my favorite outside of V&A) and Bistro de Paris upstairs in France in Epcot.

An alternative would be Brown Derby at DHS. We enjoy the walk to/from there and we love the drinks at the Derby.

I was seriously thinking about BlueZoo, thanks for the advice. I will do my homework and check on menus and recent reviews. The Bistro may just be the perfect idea. Thanks so much!

Just had an epiphany . The Disney Food Blog has a Mini-Guide to Epcot Snacks...What if we just spent the evening wandering around the world eating whatever interested us? I simply could not believe the amount of food available throughout EPCOT that does not involve a sit-down restaurant? The guide is full of ideas I never would have thought of...it's permission to snack all night! Who wouldn't enjoy a break one evening from waiting for an ADR and just eating whatever you wanted? There are always vegetables available at the lounge. Kids will have their own $ and we can walk and eat when we want to. Brilliant!

You hit the nail on the head with the Epcot Stroll & Snack. It's so much fun. The little things are bigger than you would think, too. Consider sharing so you can try different things. We have the opposite problem at Epcot--we try so many things that there's no room for a "real" meal.

The snack (and drink) around the world plan is a very solid one. There are so many things I enjoy that don't involve sit-down restaurants in Epcot World Showcase (platters at Tangerine Café, crepes at Crepes de Chefs de France, wine at the France and Germany pavilions, chips and guacamole and margaritas at Cava del Tequila, funnel cake at the America pavilion, sake at the sake bar inside Mitsukoshi, fish and chips at the walk-up counter in England, etc.) that I have begun to shy away from TS meals there, although there are good ones. Eat a little, drink a little, stroll a little... fun evening!
