We will be going this upcoming year and have yet to look for past reviews, so I thought I would try here first. I would like to attend some of the special dinners and or chef classes. Please let me know what you enjoyed the most. I am very picky about good restaurant food, I am a good cook so I look for originality and fresh ingredients seasoned just right. Thanks for all your input.:thumbsup2

We always enjoy the dinners at Jiko. They have a dinner series the first Thursday of each month featuring special dinners prepared by the Jiko chefs (each course usually be a different chef) and there will be a representative from a winery (usually a South African winery) - it is exceptional! Our first visit to this series was during the F&W, then we learned it is a monthly experience (with occasional exceptions).

bummer the first thursday is the week prior to our visit. I will look to see if anything is available for our week. Thanks.

As this is not specifically DVC related, I am moving this to the restaurants board.

We went to F&W last year, but not any of the special functions. The food kiosks were interesting, but quite pricey. By the time we sampled 3 or 4 kiosks we could have had a nice table service lunch.

I think it is one of those things that everyone should do once.

I reviewed all three special dining events in my trip report. I think the event I'd recommend for you would be Party for the Senses. It's been a regular staple of the festival, held every Saturday night with a rotating lineup of chefs and dishes from around the Walt Disney World Resort and around the country.

The event is held at the World Showplace (formerly known as the Millennium Village), and it's set up kiosk style with stations with tasting sizes of foods and tasting pours of wines. It was $135 per person plus tax, and well worth it.

AllEarsNet has a description of the various events from last year, along with reviews of some of them, as well. It should give you an idea what to expect if you plan to book these events.

But, as the booking date in the summer draws closer, the phone lines will be jammed at 7am eastern with folks trying to book events with limited availability. Some events are sold out within 10 minutes of the phone lines being open. Party for the Senses is a larger event, and doesn't sell out that quickly, so I suggested that first.
